Meanwhile, he helped you with becoming more fit, Hange was helping you practice reading and writing. Along with filling in all sorts of information on titans. It was honestly a pain in the ass.
"What are you writing, (Y/n)?" the woman's body leaned above you while you tried writing on the paper.
You gave her a confused look before looking down again, "the report you told me to write about what happened in Shinganshina?"
Hange pulled out a seat and sat next to you, "what I mean is that I don't understand the symbols," she took the piece of paper away from you and looked at it quizzically, "this is nothing like our language."
Shit, not again.
"Oh, I'll just start writing again." you pulled out another piece of paper and ignored Hange's stare. You both stayed like that until a broad male walked through the door.
Hange quickly walked up to him holding out all the papers you wrote with your 'mother tongue' which was still the same just a different form of writing. It wasn't your fault that all the symbols looked the same to you as a monolingual.
Both adults began to talk amongst each other, Hange worried about the papers although soon to be commander simply waved it off as a child thing. It has only been a few months but he sure did grow a soft spot for you.
The male noticed you were staring, causing you to focus on the paper. Wanting to finish faster you sacrificed legibility with speed. Every once in a while you shook your hand in pain and smacked it against the table before continuing writing about what you saw. The paper didn't matter; it was all to practice and the information would only ever stay with Hange.
"Finished!"
Jumping up you ran to Hange and handed her the papers full of words you barely understood. "Do it again."
"Ha?" you scrunch your nose at the taller woman, "why?"
She showed you the paper, "This is hard to read. We are also practicing legibility, (Y/n)."
"Shit."
The adults in the room look down at you perplexed as to where you heard such language form. There was a silent rule of everyone playing as a good role model for you, which included things like behavior, language, and other stuff.
Erwin crossed his arms and gave you a glare, "who taught you that?"
"Uh, Big brother..? I'm sorry dad I won't say it again."
His eyes widened and his face grew a bit red, unlike Hange who was howling.
More months had passed by and you were now twelve, meaning that you should be able to join the training thing. Not only that but just two weeks ago Shadis announced his retirement as a commander just to say he will be in charge of the training corps.
You bid the scouts a see you later and rode your horses to where the camp was. Which was after the adult gave you a few small gifts.
Levi gave you a small matching scarf.
Hange gave you a small notebook to practice your still garbage writing.
Ewin gave you a hug.
And Mike straight up gave you a knife.
It's safe to say he's your favorite now.
"Hey, Pops. What exactly will you be teaching us?"
"That is to deal with later, Cadet."
You frowned at the bald man, "wow, already practicing for how you will talk."
"I may already know you but that doesn't mean I'll go easy on you, (Y/n)."
