BLAKE

I pursed my lips as my fingers tugged at my hair, creating a some-what good braid before tying the elastic around the end of it. I pulled my two braids over each shoulder - or at least tried to - and smiled at myself in the mirror. I admired what I was wearing; my blue mum jeans paired with a black turtleneck sweater. I slipped on my slightly heeled ankle boots and quickly finished packing my bag.

"Blake!" My mum called from the front door, annoyed, "If you don't get out here now, you can walk to school!"

I snorted, knowing there was no chance of that happening, and looked down at my outfit once more before heading towards the front door, where my mum was waiting impatiently. "Why are you so dressed up?" She asked, peering at me in confusion.

Shrugging, I walked out the door and climbed into the car. On the way, mum interrogated me, asking if I was dressing up for a boy and if it was that Calum kid I had been talking to. I denied everything, telling her I was dressing up for me and why is that so illegal? She shut up for the rest of the drive, but as I climbed out of the car I could feel her curious gaze on me. I spotted Calum at the gate by himself, his phone in hand, and began walking towards him, but my phone vibrated seconds later.

LOSER: where are you?

LOSER: oh there you are

LOSER: YOU LOOK SO HOT HOLY MOLY DATE ME

I walked up to him, feeling people turn to stare at me. I hadn't dressed like this for a year, so of course it came as a surprise to people who I once called my friend. Calum was gawking at me, his eyes flickering up and down my body. "What's the occasion?" He joked, pulling me into a hug.

"I'm not even that dressed up!" I protested. He watched me, waiting for me to answer his question. "Fine, if you must know, I have a date after school"

"No, you don't" Calum replied instantly, rolling his eyes. I frowned and began walking faster, crossing my arms over chest angrily. Calum laughed and ran after me, grasping my elbow to slow me. "Blake, you hardly speak to any boys besides me"

"And how would you know?" I snapped, glaring at him as I tugged my elbow away from his hand. Calum rolled his eyes again, an eyebrow raised. I turned away from him again and walked towards my class, ignoring his protests. I sat through photography thinking about what he said. No, you don't. Was it so weird I had a date? I mean, sure I hadn't dated for a while but that didn't mean boys didn't ask me. I was just never interested in them.

After class, I frowned at Calum who was leaning next to the door, smiling at me. "Go away, asshole"

"Why are you dressed up?" Calum asked once again, following me to my next class. I refused to answer, glaring at Calum before turning away. "Blake, there's a reason. Is it actually a boy?"

"Yes, it is," I sighed, shaking my head, "I actually do have a date tonight"

"With who?"

"Ashton"

"Irwin?" Calum replied, looking at me in confusion while shaking his head. "Really?"

I nodded, "Yeah. Why?" Calum frowned but didn't reply to that, only saying he had to get to class and he'll see me at break. He walked off, glancing back occasionally, though I couldn't read his face. It was a mixture between anger and annoyance. I bit my lip, worrying what I had done to upset him. I shrugged and straightened up. He'll tell me.
