34. WATER UNDER THE BRIDGE

GAVIN

Passion called me saying that that she's going into labor and I dropped everything and I called River and I picked him up and now we're at the hospital.

I called my Mom and Dad, Kiara, Xander, and TJ and they're all on their way here.

I am so fucking nervous y'all.

It's too early for my baby boy to come.

He's no supposed to be here for another two months.

I'm driving this car fast as hell trying to get to the hospital.

RIVER: GAVIN, I KNOW THIS COMES AS A SUDDEN SHOCK TO YOU, BUT SLOW DOWN A LITTLE.

GAVIN: I CAN'T. I CAN'T MISS THE BIRTH OF OUR KID.

RIVER: WELL I HOPE YOU DON'T KILL US IN THE PROCESS OF GETTING THERE.

GAVIN: WE'RE HERE NOW.

RIVER: I SEE.

He can be such a smartass at times.

I parked my car and we got out and went in.

I asked the nurse at the front desk which floor was Passion on and she asked me who I was and all that and she told me the 6th floor.

We got on the elevator and we went to the 6th floor.

When we got off the elevator, we saw Calvin and Daniel talking.

CALVIN: DANIEL, WE CAN TALK ABOUT THAT LATER. ALL THAT MATTERS NOW IS THAT PASSION IS OK.

DANIEL: WHATEVER.

CALVIN: I THOUGHT WE WERE MAKING PROGRESS.

DANIEL: WE'RE BOTH WORKS IN PROGRESS.

GAVIN: CALVIN, HAS PASSION HAD THE BABY YET?

CALVIN: NOT YET. SHE'S STILL IN LABOR. HER MOM IS WITH HER RIGHT NOW. WE GOT KICKED OUT FOR ARGUING.

DANIEL: YOU STARTED IT.

CALVIN: DANIEL, LET'S NOT START THIS RIGHT NOW. TODAY IS A JOYOUS OCCASION. YOU GET TO MEET YOUR NEPHEW AND I GET TO MEET MY GRANDSON. TRUCE?

DANIEL: TRUCE ...FOR NOW.

GAVIN: YOU THINK IT'S OK IF WE GO CHECK IN ON HER?

CALVIN: GO AHEAD. IT'S ROOM 626.

GAVIN: THANK YOU.

Me and River walked to room 626 and I knocked on the door.

PASSION: COME IN.

I opened the door and we walked in.

PASSION: YOU MADE IT.

GAVIN: I HOPE YOU DIDN'T THINK I'D MISS THE BIRTH OF OUR SON. THAT WOULD BE TOO MUCH LIKE WRONG.

Passion started screaming.

PASSION: THESE LABOR PAINS ARE KILLING ME!!!!!

NURSE: YOUR CONTRACTIONS ARE 5 MINUTES APART.

PASSION: AND EVERY FIVE MINUTES  THE WORSE PAIN I'VE EVER ENDURED HITS ME LIKE A SLAP IN THE FACE.

River walks up to Passion and he grabs her hand.

RIVER: EVERYTHING'S GOING TO BE ALRIGHT. WE'RE HERE FOR YOU.

PASSION: THANK YOU RIVER. I TRULY DON'T DESERVE YOUR KINDNESS ESPECIALLY WITH ALL THE THINGS I'VE SAID AND DONE TOWARDS YOU.
