Chloe

I closed my eyes as the credits started rolling up. Not that it wasn’t scary but it was just not good enough to keep me away from the thoughts of her, the way she’d stay snuggled up into me, the way she’d peek out from hiding behind my shoulder at the screen and then hide again when something came up. Arghh, Rina, you are killing me!

Then my phone rang for the first time today It probably would be the same person that called yesterday. Only two people knew my number at the moment, and one, who was Nicole, calling me was highly unlikely. She must be thinking I was just another girl falling for her. If only she knew the truth.

 “Yeah.”

“Hey.” I waited, but nothing came for a few seconds.

“Well?”

“Yeah, how you settling in?”

“Dude, you’ve asked the same thing for four nights in a row now.”

“I mean at school. How was your first day at Sky High?”

“Colorful.” I answered with a yawn, sounding nonchalant, while the real thing I was feeling was far from that.

“Come on, it can’t be that bad.”

“Well, I got my first taste of the ‘tardy sweeps’.”

“On the first day! You are one …”

“And detention.” He burst out laughing.

“You do keep up your reputation, huh?” I just answered with a chuckle. He still didn’t ask what he’d called to ask in the first place.

“Made friends?”

“Yeah.” I wasn’t being mean but I just felt like torturing the guy. And as he realized I wasn’t going to give nothing away, he groaned.

“Come on, Kim.” I chuckled, though I knew he was serious. So I pulled a straight face, too bad he couldn’t see that.

“Yeah, I met her.” He didn’t say anything back so I continued.

“We both got to know each other quite well. She’s not a bad girl, you know.”

“Yes, not bad. Just callous, cruel and cold-hearted...”

“Yeah, yeah, sorry.”

He sighed. “It’s okay, you know. You don’t have to do this if you don’t want to.” I rolled my eyes.

“I don’t promise easily and I tend to keep my word when I do. So don’t worry about it.” I might have sounded a bit harsh but he had to know.
