5 Steps Back

Nicki's P.O.V

Safaree and I have been up all night trying to decide whether it's best if we just leave Nah'Lonnie back in New York for a while. I just really don't know. I know Safarees pissed but me on the other hand I'm upset but that's my baby and when I was walking down to the kitchen last night, I overheard her crying and it broke my heart.

" Babe are your bags packed ? " Safaree asked braking me out of my trance

" Yeah, there in the closet on my side " I said quietly. He walked over to me and kissed my forehead.

" It's gonna be okay, it's not like it's forever. Just until everything blows over "

" But that can take months Safaree "

" I know but until then she will be in good hands and she will be out of the publics eye and we're going to fix the problem okay? " I nodded my head and got up to go to Nah'Lonnies room. I walked in thinking she would be asleep but she was fully dressed and was reading something.

" Hey " I said making her look up.

" Hi " She said back. I sat down on the edge of her bed.

" What you reading? "

" The bible " I giggled thinking that she was lying but she didn't laugh. I then cleared my throat.

" Let me see " She lifted it up. The cover was pink with butterflies on it and it read The Holy Bible in white letter with her name on the bottom in cursive. " Are you reading the whole thing? "

" Yeah I did it before when I was twelve but I didn't understand it so here I am again "

" Oh, I never herd of a twelve year old reading the whole bible "

" Yeah well I got into trouble when I was twelve and my punishment was that in order for me to go outside I had to read the whole bible. It's pretty interesting " I smiled.

" Are your bags ready? "

" Yeah daddy took them " she said in a small voice.

" Nah-Lo"

" Do I really have to go? Mommy please I'm sorry I don't want to stay with them I want to be here with you and daddy. I promise I will be on my best behavior and I won't act up in school. Mommy I promise! " She sobbed. I hugged her as she cried and I couldn't help but cry too. Safaree then walked in and stood by the door.

" The car and Sherika are here " Nah'Lonnie got up off me taking her bible and walked pass Safaree purposely bumping him with her shoulder. I got up and Safaree hugged me.

" We take ten steps forward just to take five steps back " I mumbled in his chest.

" I know baby but it's all apart of a game we play called life "

" If this game requires me to make decisions like this, then I don't want to play anymore Faree " I cried.

" I know baby I know " He kissed my forehead and then my nose making me giggled. He kissed my lips and we shocked each other making us pull away. We looked at each other and smiled.

Maybe this is for the better.
