~ Annabeth's Perspective ~
"Anything else?" Annabeth asked the rest of the ship as she wrote down the world's longest shopping list.
"Hot dogs," Travis said from another room.
"Fonzies," Leo said. "And energy drinks, cotton candy, and popcorn. Did I miss anything?"
"Already got those," she replied.
"How about bread?" Mrs. Jackson asked. "Eggs? Butter?"
"That's what I forgot!" Leo exclaimed.
Annabeth jotted down some more notes and asked,"Is that all?"
Mrs. Jackson thought for a second. "Blue food dye. The baby's getting fussy from not getting blue food." She ruffled Percy's hair.
Mr. Blofis said,"If you can buy more coffee beans that'd be great."
Annabeth asked for the last time,"Is that all?"
"I think so," Mrs. Jackson said.
"Cool," she replied. "Hey Percy, wanna come?"
"Sure," he said, putting his cereal bowl in the dishwasher.
They climbed the rope ladder down the ship and walked for about 15 minutes to the nearest store. Annabeth grabbed a shopping cart and got the basics: bread, eggs, and butter (and Mr. Blofis's coffee beans). Percy got whatever Leo and Travis wanted, and added some treats for himself. By the time they got to checkout, the cart consisted mostly of pastries, potato chips, and a considerable amount of gum. At the bottom was everything they actually needed.
Percy started paying with the self checkout, but...he wasn't exactly the best at it. First, he didn't know how to change the language setting because it wasn't English (or Greek), so he spent five minutes pressing random buttons until he found the right one...until he accidently chose Spanish.
"Call Leo," he said to Annabeth.
Annabeth shook her head at her boyfriend's antics, which were holding up the line. She took out her phone, which had Leo on speed dial. After it rang for half a minute, he answered.
"Hey Annabeth, what's up? I'm kinda busy," Leo said.
"We're at the store's checkout," she said.
"Yeah, and I'm in the ship's engine room," he replied.
"Percy accidently changed the language on the self checkout to Spanish," she explained.
Leo sighed on the other end and said,"I don't have time to go over there."
Annabeth gave the phone to Percy, who explained the entire situation. Leo told Percy to read what the screen said in Spanish. Meanwhile, the daughter of Athena found it funny how much Percy was failing at the pronunciation. After another 5 minutes, the screen was changed to English.
"Here," he said, giving Annabeth the phone.
Leo already hung up so she just put her phone in her purse. Unfortunately, Percy's fight with the machine wasn't done yet.
Annoyed, he slammed a block of butter on the machine and shouted in frustration,"IT'S IN THE MOTHERFUCKING BAGGING AREA!" which earned him a bunch of strange looks.
Annabeth moved the items a few inches forward so they were in the actual bagging area.
"Pssh, I knew that," he said.
