Chapter 43: Rose

Reeve Lowel's Point of View

I was distraught the whole ride. When he finally dropped me off, I paid him my bill without asking for a change. I know I looked like shit right now.

My makeup is already smudged. My hair is tangled and I'm no longer wearing my heels. The moment I set my foot in my own condo, I saw Colleen, Klyrex, and Aleph having their dinner in the living room.

"Why are you crying?"

"Nikos... I already knew about his schemes and how you get involved." Biglang nanigas sa pwesto si Colleen.

"Don't worry I'm not mad at you. I said while trying to wipe my tears. Klyrex offered me a glass of water and made me sit down from the couch.

They just waited for me to speak again. I appreciate their silence. Para bang hinahayaan lang nila akong magsalita. Aleph is soothing me while tapping my back lightly.

"Why am I not surprised that you're crying your eyes out right now because of Nikos Stanislaski. He must be really a heart breaker." Sambit ni Aleph sa tabi ko. I saw Colleen pinched Aleph's shoulder as if she's saying not to push it any further.

"What?

"My brother's first love died because of Nikos Stanislaski. Sorry Reeve, but I've been aching to tell you.

"You knew about Alicia?" I asked. He nodded his head.

"Yes, and I guess you already know about my older brother, Winnick. I heard a lot of stories about Nikos from my brother and all of them aren't pleasant. I hope you stop crying now, Reeve." I excused myself and entered my room.

"Reeve, I'm so sorry. He was really a good talker when we first met. He promised me not that he will not going to hurt you. I thought you are so lucky because there's someone who loves you more than their own self." I can sense how guilty Colleen is.

"He loves to manipulate everything, Col. He will use any means or actions as long as it will lead to his desire goal. He was a... sociopath." I said. Let's say that he loves me since the first time he laid my eyes on me. Which is wrong because his action is disturbing for me. We have a different perspective on ethics. I conform to the standard given by society. The problem with the two of us is cultural relativism.

Cultural relativism is where every standard of right and wrong in different place are equally valid and no system is better than any other. So, Nikos' action may believe that he's right but for me, it's not.

I want a relationship where we both grow together not the one where we decided to stay even if we're both hurting. He's a beautiful rose for me. I thought he was perfect but I realized I was the one who branded him like that.
