Kaldur stretched over me, hand reaching for the blanket on the arm of the couch. His fingers brushed against the end, but his grip fell short, leaving him sprawled across my lap. "Peeeeercy," he said. "Can you get that for me?"

I snorted and pulled the blanket so it covered his face. He gave me a thumbs up, and he didn't really seem like he would be moving anytime soon. "You are lucky you have gills." I poked his ribs.

Kaldur shifted. "Not so much a matter of luck as it is of biology. Unlike your luck."

"I resent what you're implying," Dad said, not looking up from the papers he was working on.

"He's not wrong, Dad."

"Doesn't mean I have to like it."

I laughed and stood up, ignoring Kaldur as he tried to drag me back down. He wasn't fooling me. I knew he only wanted to use my lap as a pillow. My arms slid around Dad and my head dropped to rest over his shoulder. "I thought you were gonna take a break today?"

"Your brother-" Dad paused. "Triton, not Tyson, thought it would be an excellent idea to 'forget' to tell me about these until today. I think it's a ruse so he can try to sneak in and steal you away." Pulling me down, he pressed a kiss to the side of my head. "I would tell you to go talk to Tyson, but I don't think you'd walk away from that without internal bleeding."

"I mean, that's where the blood's supposed to be, right?"

"Perseus."

I laughed. "I'm joking, Dad. Now either schooch over or make Triton do all the work." To my not at all surprise, Dad slid so there was enough room for me to slip into the space beside him. Luckily for me, and for my ribs, it was a big chair.  It took a little bit of maneuvering, and a tiny bit of jabbing him with my elbows, but I managed to worm myself underneath his arm. Gentle tugging on my scalp caused me to tilt my head back. Kaldur laid across the back of the chair. He ran his fingers through my hair, not hesitating when he realized I was looking at him. I leaned my head back into his touch.

Chuckling, Dad tapped his fingers against my arm. "You can go back to the couch. I'll have these papers done soon and then we can watch a movie or something." I hummed and leaned closer to him. "Percy, seriously, it's not like I'm going anywhere."

Sharp canines dug into the inside of my lip. One arm found itself wrapping around Dad and holding tight. There wasn't any guarantee that he would still be here. He could decide he doesn't want to bother with me and vanish. He could decide I'm not worth the trouble, that I'm annoying.

That I'm better off dead.

"Percy?" Dad asked. "What's wrong?"

"Nothing."

"And I'm the god of deserts." Even without looking, I knew he rolled his eyes. "There's something bugging you, and the last time I left it be you tried to kill yourself." I tensed, and so did he. "Oh..." he said, voice soft. "So that's what this is about." Wrapping my wrist with a hand, he pulled me onto his lap. "I don't know how clear I need to make this, Percy. I prefer you alive. So whatever thoughts are no doubt floating around in your head, they're not true. You're my daughter, you've been through way too much, and you deserve to live. No ifs, ands, or buts about it."

"I have to agree with your father, Percy." Kaldur sat up.

"You literally have to," I mumbled.

"It does not make it any less true."

Dad sighed, standing up. The water easily supported me as he carried me over to the couch. "You are such a difficult child, you know that?" He sat. Near instantly, Triton was beside him, trying to pull me away. I whined and held fast. Nope. Triton is still mad at me. I mean, probably. Most likely. One hundred percent. "Triton-"

"My turn to steal her."

"Son, I did no stealing of children."

"Are you listed as her legal guardian?" Triton asked. "Hm. No, right? KIDNAPPING! You, sir, are a kidnapper!" He pried me off and turned me to his chest.

I blinked and looked at Dad so fast I swore I gave myself whiplash. "What the actual fuck is he on?"

The only response he could come up with was pinching the bridge of his nose, and I think that says all that needs to be said about this family: frustration with the sheer idiocy. Kaldur sat laughing as I struggled against Triton's grip. I glared, which only made him laugh harder.

"Traitor," I said. Try as I might, I couldn't get my foot high enough to drive it into Triton's stomach. If he decided to have legs for once, that would make this so much easier but nooooo Triton has to be all Little Mermaidy and have tails. Dad reached over and pulled Triton towards him, trapping me. "Can't a girl just sit without getting tackled by a two year old god."

"Percy," Dad said. "That's not nice. Triton's at least four."

I laughed and only laughed harder when Dad pulled Kaldur into a hug. He glared at me, but I only cooed about how cute. Two can play that game and you can sure as Hades bet that I was playing to win.
