Hitori's Flight
Once upon a time, Hitori and I started to write his memoir. But it was too sad so I stopped. And now that Hitori's, like, emotionally matured, it actually feels too painful to revisit. So this is short, but it covers basically the main stuff up 'til he meets Natsu.
The writing in this will not be eloquent because Hitori is not eloquent. The narration will range from things being stated simply, to awkwardly, to abstractly. This is Hitori's story and he is telling it.
Also, trigger warning for obvious reasons.
{1} Heart Words
I had words inside my heart and they are what kept me going―even when I opened my mouth and they didn't come out as sounds and or when they did come out yet only earned me cold looks. It wasn't until I was 15 when I met Natsu that my heart words began to come out easily, and they were accepted. Natsu once told me I was strong... But he doesn't know that he was the person who first made me want to be stronger.
The kindergarten teacher Miss Reiko frowned at Mama, glancing down at me as I slipped on my outdoor shoes. "He doesn't speak at all," she said to Mama in a low voice. "It's very difficult to get him to interact with the other children and he barely even speaks to the staff. I didn't see it in his file, but perhaps does he have... a condition?"
