34. BONUS CHAPTER II: AM I HONEST TO MYSELF?

Start from the beginning

"It just happened that way, but I messaged you that I will be coming to your house in the evening," he said in a grave annoyed voice.

"I had an emergency case early this morning plus I had to take practical exams for some postgraduate students. In the haste of going out of the house, I forgot to take my charger. I just kept it for charging only when I reached home. Sorry..." Her cute sorry made him smile a little but he suppressed it and just nodded casually.

"Oh... Do you like the decorations? It's all planned by me" He rolled his eyes around, "They are really good but don't you think that everything is happening quickly, I mean... You never mentioned or gave any hint about this"

"I also had no idea that things would ultimately turn this way. I mean who would have thought..."

Just as she was going to tell further Sarita announced in a loud voice, "Amna, what are you doing? The groom has finally arrived"

"Shreekant, just wait for some time, I have a lot of things to tell you" and she rushed back into the corridor hurriedly going to a room.

As she left he wondered, "What things? I am standing like a cartoon, in the middle of nowhere, but who is this groom? But she never mentioned anything about him?"

He turned to see Sarita Aunty standing at the entrance of the door, holding a copper plate that contained a lit lamp, some grains of rice, turmeric, and red vermillion. The groom and his family finally made an appearance with coconuts and some silver coins placed on decorated plates while Shreekant stared at the groom's face thinking, "Where have I seen him?"

As the groom entered the house, he was equally appalled to see Shreekant, "Sir, when did you return?"

Shreekant finally realized where he had seen him, "He was Ravi, from the records departments of Mhatre Group"

Ravi introduced his parents to Shreekant, "Mom, Dad... He is Mr. Shreekant Mhatre, my boss" Shreekant gave a gentle awkward smile and walked towards him, "Congrats Ravi" Although he was congratulating him, his voice sounded like something else.

Hiding Raised eyebrows and expressions of dislike, he blurted with a gentle smile, "How did you meet Amna?"

Ravi looked at him with confusing eyes, "Amna? I met her through Disha only." Shreekant interrogation was untimely interrupted by Sarita who said in a loud voice, "The bride is here... Amna did you bring the engagement ring kept in the drawer?"

He turned to see Amna and saw her coming with Disha who was equally gorgeously dressed towards them. Amna then moved away from her place allowing Ravi and Disha to stand together in the middle of the hall and replied, "Yes, aunty I brought the ring"

"Sir, thanks for being a part of such a small ceremony. Amna just informed me that you came back from London today" Disha said in a low-pitched voice looking at Shreekant while he humbly nodded.

Sarita looked at Ravi's parents, "Now let Ravi and Disha exchange the rings and after that, we can feed each other sugar"

The divine words of Sarita were as pleasing as a cold drink in summer to Shreekant, who out of nowhere chuckled so loudly that everyone in the hall looked at him. He awkwardly then replied, "Sorry, I was just clearing my throat"

As the ceremony finally concluded with a long photography session, both that families chatted with each other while Disha and Ravi were also talking to one another. Just then Amna gestured Shreekant to come out of the house. He followed her as they walked out of the house.

It was all peaceful and silent outside with hordes of stars gazing at them intently as if they were eavesdropping on their conversation and finally Amna spoke, "I am so happy to see you like this, in front of me"
