Young Love

When You First Met

(This isn't the first chapter, it's a prologue)

 I moved from New York to California a couple days ago, I live in Reseda. Today was my first day at West Valley High. I moved in during winter break, so I was a new kid. I didn't know anyone there at all. I walked in, and went to the front desk to get my schedule and my locker combo. When I got my schedule and locker combo, I went to my locker and tried opening it, but it wouldn't work. I was getting pretty frustrated, so I punched the locker. Then someone tapped my shoulder and said, "Are you ok?" "NO! This stupid locker won't open!" I said angrily. I turn around and see a guy with brown hair, brown eyes, and dark skin. He laughed a bit and said, "Here, let me help you out." I gave him my locker combination, and on he opened it. "How-" I said with my eyes wide open. He laughed and said, "No problem" "Thanks" I said with a little laugh. I started to put my stuff in my locker, but the guy was still standing there watching me. "You new here?" he asked. "Uh yeah actually, I am." I replied while closing my locker. "I can take you to your class and show you around the school. Well, if you want." I looked at him and said, "Sure, that would be nice." I showed him my schedule and he told me that we had all our classes together, which was nice. We got to our first class which was Math and the teacher made me introduce myself before I got to sit down. I walked up to the front of the class and introduced myself. "Um, hi? My name is (y/n) aaanndd uuhh I just moved here from New York." Once I was done I sat down in the back of the class  next to the boy. The teacher gave me some work and told me that to wait until she was done so she can tell me what's going on. I sat there and listened to what she said even though I didn't have to. I'm a pretty fast learner, so I got it down quick. 

The teacher came up to me to explain but I already finished the work she gave me and turned it in.  I looked over at the boy and saw he was done. I smiled and he smiled back. Class was over and I walked out of class. "Hey (y/n) wait up!" I heard a voice say behind me. It was the boy. "Hey, I never got your name." I said. "I'm Daniel, Daniel LaRusso" "Daniel, I like that name" I said with a smile. "Thanks. I like your name too!" Daniel responded. We walked to our next class which was Science. "So you're from New York?" he asked. "Yeah, I just moved here a couple weeks ago" "That's cool. I use to live in New Jersey" I didn't know what to say so I just said, "Cool"

*time skip to lunch*

 I walked out of class to the cafeteria. I went in the lunch line and started picking out what I wanted to eat.  Daniel came up to me and nudged me. "Hey" I said. "Hi" Daniel replied. "What's up?" I asked. "Oh nothing much. I was gonna ask you if you wanted to sit together for lunch" "Sure" "Great!" We got to the end of the line to pay. "That'll be $2.50" the lady said. "Wait for both" Daniel said. I looked at him a little confused, then I realized what he was doing. "Oh Daniel you don't have to pay for me" I begged. "No no, let me pay, it's you're first day and I wanna do something nice for you" he said with a smile. "Are you sure?" "Yeah, yeah! Don't worry about it!" I smiled and said "Thank you". "No problem!" Daniel said. We sat down and ate our lunch. "How do you like California?" "Well the weather is very different haha. Umm it's ok I guess" I said. We kept talking until the bell rang. I went to my locker and got some stuff and headed to Daniel's locker so we can walk to class together. 

*time skip to the end of the day*

The bell rang and I headed out of class and headed to the front door. Daniel came running after me and offered to walk me home. I said sure and we started walking. "So where do you live?" Daniel asked. "I live in Reseda" I said. "Really?! Oh you're the new people in apartment 21" I looked at him. "Uh yeah we are. Do you live in Reseda?" I asked. "Yeah, I live in apartment 20" I was a little surprised. "We're next door neighbors!" he said with a little laugh. I laughed, not knowing what to say. "Come over to my place, we can hangout" he offered. "Ok," I said a little excited. I was looking at him while we were walking. My was he cute! Wait, did I just say that Daniel was cute? No, no. I can't like him, we just met. "We're here. Come inside" Daniel said. We walked inside and put our stuff down in his room, then walked out to the kitchen for a snack. "Hey mom!" Daniel said. "Hi honey! Who's this?" She asked Daniel. "This is (y/n), she's new. She lives next door in apartment 21" I smiled at her and she smiled back. "Well hi (y/n), it's nice to meet you!" I put my hand out and she did the same. We shook hands and I said, "It's nice to meet you too Mrs. LaRusso!" I turned to Daniel and he signaled me to his room, so I followed. We were just sitting on his bed talking about random things for hours. I looked at the time and saw it was 7:50 pm. I got up and told Daniel I had to go and he walked me out. "I had a good time with you today. Thanks, for... everything" I said with a smile. "No problem! I'll come by tomorrow and we can walk to school together." He said. "Sure" We said bye and hugged each other. I went home and went straight to my room My parents were at work and they didn't get home till 10:00. I was thinking about my day and about Daniel. I was starting to like him, as in I have a crush on him. That made me mad at myself because I knew he didn't feel the same way.
