"Hide," I said.

"Hey, Y/N. How have you been?"

"Y-You were dead."

Hide chuckled, "Yeah about that."

I walked up to him and hugged him, "It doesn't matter what happened, but it's great to see you."

Hide hugged me back, "Ever since your accident, I knew you were different. However, I didn't know how. Then Kaneki's accident happened. And I guess I put two and two together and figured out you were ghouls."

He pulled away and looked at me, "It doesn't matter that your ghouls. Even if you were ghouls, you still saw me as a friend and not your next meal."

I chuckled a bit, "Yeah."

Hide looked at what had happened, "It's about time we get our Kaneki back."

"Yeah. I agree."

I ran out of the CCG building and headed out. I took an area and started to search with the metal detectors. Touka was around the same areas as me. After about a few minutes, there was nothing. I walked over to another area and continued the search.

"Come on, where are you Kaneki? There is someone waiting for you, Kaneki. Not just me and Kage, but there is someone else waiting."

I heard a beep. I walked a little closer and the entire thing went crazy. I knelt down and started to rip away at the flesh. I penetrated it and found his hand.

"Touka! Help me over here!"

She ran over and started to help me uncover him. We were finally able to uncover him and she helped me pull him out of where he was.

"You got him?" Touka asked as I took his arm and wrapped it around my neck.

"Yeah, I got him," I said and started to make my way back to the CCG building.

The commander called everyone back and I took Kaneki into the medical ward.

"He's in a coma right now," Kimi said.

"Is he going to be ok?"

"He should be," she said. "But we don't know when he will wake up."

"I see," I said.

Touka placed her hand on my shoulder, "Kaneki's been through worse. I am sure he will pull through."

"Right," I said.

A day had gone by and they moved Kaneki into a different room. I walked into his room and pulled over a chair by his bed. I sat there and pulled out the book he had bought for me. I flipped through until I had found the page I was at. I read for a good solid five minutes before I looked up to see Kaneki had just sat up. He looked over at me.

"Kaneki," I said.

"Hey, Y/N."

I jumped from the chair and immediately hugged him. I buried my face in his shoulder and started to cry.

"You're awake, but most importantly, you're alive!"

"I'm here, Y/N," he said and hugged me back.

I pulled away and looked up at him. I leaned towards him and placed my lips against his. He pulled me closer to him. I pulled away from him and he smiled at me.

"I thought you were a goner," I said.

"I would never leave you after what we've been through."

"Um, there's someone who wants to see you."

"See me?"

"Yeah, but I think the doctors still want you to rest. Actually, they don't know you're awake."

"I'd rather not have everyone storm my room right now," he chuckled. "I just want it to be us right now."

"Right," I said and sat back on the chair.

"What's the matter, Y/N?"

"It's just that," I began, but was interrupted.

"Kaneki!"

I looked behind me to see Kage had walked into the room. He had a huge smile on his face and ran over to him,

"You're awake, Kaneki!"

Kaneki smiled down at Kage.

"How have you been, bud?"

"Tired lately," he said. "But good! I've been with Hinami and a few other kids lately!"

"Running to your heart's content I see?"

"I try to, but there are still places that are affected by that thing out there."

"They call what's out there dragon," I said.

"Dragon?"

I nodded my head, "Yeah. However, they still see that it's active and it's been about a day since we pulled you out of there. They don't know why it's still active. Well, it's not active right now. But they think it will become active again."

"When?"

"Probably not until tomorrow or so."

"Can I sit next to you, Kaneki?" Kage asked.

"Come on up," he said.

I lifted Kage up and set him next to Kaneki.

"Are you going to be better soon, Kaneki?"

"I hope so. I want to help deal with this mess I made."

"It wasn't your fault, though. You were just trying to protect Y/N," Kage said. "It's because you care a lot about her, don't you?"

Kaneki smiled, "I do care a lot about your sister."

"Well mom and dad aren't here, but I am! And I give you my permission to look after her!" Kage had a proud smile on his face.

The two of us chuckled.

"Well thank you, Kage," Kaneki smiled.

"Kage, where did you go?" Hinami called.

"I'm in here!" Kage called.

Hinami walked in and saw Kaneki was awake.

"You're awake! I need to tell the others," she said and darted down the hall.

"I wanted to avoid that," Kaneki sighed.

"I'm sorry, Kaneki. It was my fault Hinami saw you," Kage said.

"It's alright, Kage," Kaneki said and rubbed his head. "Someone was bound to see me anyway."

Coming into the room after that was Touka and Hinami.

"I was expecting a few more people," Kaneki chuckled.

"Someone is waiting for you, Kaneki," Touka said.

"I better not keep them waiting," Kaneki said.

Kage jumped down from the bed and Kaneki slowly got up. We left the room so he could get ready. I walked with him until I stopped at the bridge.

"They're waiting up there for you."

He looked up at the bridge and slowly walked up the stairs.

I reached the top of the bridge and saw someone was standing there, looking out at the city. I walked over to them and their form began to clarify as I got closer. I wanted to run up to them, hug them, anything to show that I was happy to see them, but I just walked over to them and stood right next to them. I looked down at the street below us and uttered two words.

"Hey, Hide."
