This one is easier, absolutely not. In life obviously everyone takes risks, however I believe in a risk vs reward system. In my opinion, the risk of going through what I did or even worse and having to deal with it for the following years is not worth the reward. If you want to be exposed to a different culture I fully understand, however, if I were you, I would do an exchange during University. You are way more independent during that time of your life and not dependent on host-families or even organizations. By that time you're probably legally able to drive while you are abroad in addition to the ability of having a job while abroad.
