Chapter 2

Percy

Lunch was my second favorite class, study hall was my first.

Grover was trying to get everyone to listen to our presentation, but we were all goofing off. I was sitting in between Annabeth and Grover, and across from Leo.

"Okay, Okay, everyone settle down please. I am super psyched to announce Grover The Blueberry Bush and Percy the Dolphin in their iconic presentation: "Something for Science Class!" " Leo said to the entire lunch table in a deep announcer's voice.

I made a dolphin noise and said "Thank you so much for coming to this entirely mandatory class! We hope you all enjoy your pointless homework and mind numbing stress!" We all laughed, including Rachel Elizabeth Dare, whom Piper brought over to our table.

Grover whined "Why am I the blueberry bush?" I patted him on the back

"Dolphins love blueberries." I told him, we laughed again.

"Can we actually practice now, Percy? Please?" He looked at me, and then at Leo who was making a fish face at Piper, who was videoing the whole thing.

I sighed. "I don't know why we would spend our only free hour working on more school, but yes. We can actually practice." Annabeth elbowed me, and I kicked her a little under the table. Sometimes, we could have entire conversations like that without really speaking.

Grover and I took out our notes and he perfected some of my pronunciation, in the end I was really grateful. Its kind of embarrassing when the whole class realizes you don't know how to say a word that everyone else knows how to say. I would also argue that it's incredibly rude of words to not sound like how they look. Grover saved me from saying both "crustaceans" and "pelagic" wrong.

"Science really just makes up words, why cant it just be red fish, blue fish?" I asked the table, to which Leo responded

"Or one fish, two fish."

"Exactly!" I said, everyone laughed at me a little, and I looked at Annabeth.

"You should have a word with Science, tell it to stop making up words."

She smiled at me, popped a grape in her mouth and said "I'll get right on that"

We were kidding around, sure. But if anyone could get something like that done, it would be her. I smiled, stole a grape, and went back to work with Grover.

It was only Gover, Leo, Jason, Frank, and I in science class, and it was usually a fun period.

I hopped up on the front table, sat comfortably and planned for a smooth presentation with a joke here or there. I had to be relaxed, seeing as Grover was almost shaking. We got through it with minimal stutters and a few sarcastic comments from Leo. Walking back to our seats I clapped Grover on the shoulder and said "Good job buddy." He shrugged me off, I started to realize he looked kind of angry with me...

When the next group went up, Katie Gardner and Castor Dion, I took a minute to text Grover.

P: Hey, r u ok?

I saw him check his phone, but he didn't answer me.

After class, I caught up with him in the hall

"Hey man, whats up? whats wrong?" I asked him while we were walking.

He didn't answer until we were back at my locker.

"You don't get it Percy. You just don't get it." He actually seemed really mad, was he still upset about the project?
