Jace, Isabelle and Alec all received their Hogwarts letters. Alec was disappointed that he was sorted into Ravenclaw when Jace and Isabelle were sorted into Gryffindor. He noticed early on in the year that Jace had a strange obsession with a girl with red wavy hair who had also been sorted into Gryffindor. Her best friend was also sorted into Ravenclaw. He was called Simon and him and Alec ended up became close friends. One day he ran into his sister, Isabelle, she handed him an invite. A Slytherin boy in the year above them was holding a party. All Jace, Isabelle, Clary, Simon and Alec were invited. When it came to the party Alec was instantly drawn to this Slytherin. He didn't know why but he was mesmerised and hoped that he would notice him. At the end of the party his wish came true.
He learned that the Slytherins name was Magnus.
