15 - Thompson (Part 2)

Start from the beginning

Morgan, who wasn’t really seeing the way this news was affecting Liam, continues by saying, “I think it was Sunday night, wasn’t it? Yeah, it was Sunday night.”

Liam gestures for them to continue walking out of the building, all the while thinking back to what he had been doing Sunday night. That was the night I went to talk to Louis and Harry, he reminds himself. He argues with himself about why in the world Niall would have been hanging out with Morgan and Rayne on his own, but decides that Niall got along with them both really well on the day when they all went out together.

“So, what are we doing now?” Morgan asks, interrupting Liam’s thoughts.

“Well, we could always go to get coffee or tea,” Liam suggests.

“Or we could go get smoothies or something because it’s summer,” Rayne retorts.

“Right, well I still like tea in the summer, but it’s up to you two,” Liam proposes. “I just didn’t want to ruin your appetites for dinner.”

“Well, don’t ruin your appetite either; you’re coming with us,” Morgan states, catching Liam’s attention. Upon seeing the confusion on the lad’s face, Morgan explains further: “We were going to invite you and the rest of the guys to join us for dinner.”

“Oh. Where? When?” Liam inquires, making a mental note to text the others about this plan.

“At Nando’s, but we haven’t really set a time yet,” Morgan answers.

“We were waiting to figure out what time would be best for everyone,” Rayne finishes.

Liam thinks about it for a moment before responding: “Alright, how about we discuss it over those smoothies you mentioned?”

*Niall’s POV*

I watch as Sherlock hands John a cup of coffee, laughing at the banter between them. They’re just like an old, married couple, I think to myself. I continue watching the episode in peace, up until the point when John goes into the lab by himself. Just as the power goes out in the lab, I hear a loud noise in my flat.

“Holy sh-” I stop myself when I realize that it was, in fact, just my phone vibrating against the coffee table that had caught me off guard. I pause the show and read the text, surprised to see that it’s from Liam.

‘Hey, Rayne and Morgan invited all of us out to dinner at Nando’s tonight. Is 7pm okay with you?’

I grimace, displeased by the fact that Liam is only texting me because of somebody else. I send back a short text saying that, ‘7pm is fine by me,’ and turn back to my show. After a few minutes I realize that I have no idea what time is, so I check the clock on my phone.

“Dammit,” I mutter under my breath. It’s already quarter after six and I know I need a shower before I can go out. “I suppose I’ll have to finish you later,” I mumble to the show, not thinking about the fact that it can’t hear me.

I must be insane, talking to an episode of Sherlock…

I stand up from where I was sitting in my reclining chair, and walk in the bathroom that is attached to my bedroom. I start the water running before going back into the hallway to get a towel from the linen closet. What kind of teenage boy has a linen closet? I wonder as I pull out a towel.

I walk into the familiar restaurant and head towards the table in the back, which I have already been told is where the others are awaiting my arrival. I slow my pace and try to stay quiet, hoping to sneak up on the group. Everyone is so caught up in laughing at something Louis said that none of them notice me until I whisper the word, “Boo,” into Zayn’s ear.
