~The End of Obedience~
Sam and Connor had exited the school and decided to walk together to a nearby diner where they would talk. It was a simple diner by the name of 'Auntie Betties'. It kind of struck a nerve but Sam couldn't really put his finger on where he had seen or heard the name from.
"So, I'm assuming you have questions?" Connor asked.
Sam was wondering how to start the conversation. He didn't want to scare him away so he started very simple, "So, how are you?"
Connor chuckled at Sam's awkwardness, "I'm pretty sure we didn't come here so you could ask me how I was," Sam froze but he didn't want to just tell him but since he insisted, he would. "So, let's get this over with and-"
Sam stopped Connor even before he could finish his sentence, "I'm your brother. Sam." Connor's face drained of all its color leaving only a pale face that showed no emotion.
"I'm sorry, you must be mistaken. I don't know where you got your information from but my brother died in a car crash with my parents years ago." It made sense to Sam why Connor would be in such a shock considering that he himself was still coming to terms with the fact that his brother, who died in a car crash years ago, is actually alive and sitting right in front of him.
"I know you don't believe me but I can prove it." Just then Sam pulled out a similar neck chain to the one Connor had, but instead of CB, the initials on the crocodile tooth read SB. "See, I am your brother Con."
Connor clutched his chest at where the neck chain was in his shirt and pulled it out. It was the same exact one as Sam had, except for the initials of course. Although Connor's eyes started to get glossy, threatening to drop a tear, he wouldn't let himself break down.
"So, you're Sam, as in my Sammie?" Connor was confused beyond measure, that much was evident. His emotions were playing so many tricks on him that he didn't know what was true anymore.
"Yes Con, it's me. I also didn't believe it at first until my good friend Michael confirmed it." Sam felt a bit relieved that he was finally able to talk to Connor and tell him everything. Just the thought of sharing everything with his big brother made him smile.
"Wait did you just say, 'Michael confirmed it'. Are you talking about someone named Michael Heart by any chance?" Connor wasn't sure why of all the Michaels he had seen and met, his best friend, Michael Heart, would be the same Michael that enlightened Sam about his not-so-deceased brother. It couldn't be a coincidence that the Michael that told Sam who his brother was is the same Michael that had told Connor about his uncle, and how he was behind the car crash that supposedly killed his family. It enraged Connor every time he thought about it and the more he thought, the more he felt the urge to kill that wretched man.
"Wait how do you know Michael?" It was now Sam's turn to be confused, because how could Connor even remotely know of Michael? Michael was a student at X-Out Academy and they were very secretive and made sure that their location wasn't made know to just anyone, or anyone for that matter.
"Michael is a friend of mine. We met at Cut-throat Institute three years ago. He's the one who told me about the person who was responsible for my parent's and brother's death, but considering you are here I can see that not all he said was true." Connor scoffed, still in disbelief that his brother was alive.
"Are you telling me that you know who killed our parents?!" Sam was in utter shock because as far as he was concerned, his uncle had told him that his parent's death was an accident and that's how he took it.
"So, you mean to tell me that you still don't know? Our beloved uncle Pete is responsible for our parent's death." Connor's voice was laced with so much hate and venom it could kill and he probably would kill if he had the chance.
"I tried to take him out two years ago but he was prepared and I failed." Sam didn't know how to feel at that moment but he knew that he was angry at his brother for trying to assassinate the only other living family he had besides himself.
"So, you mean to tell me that you tried to assassinate our uncle, and failed?" Sam wanted an answer and he wanted it now.
"Yes, I did!" Connor wasn't proud of his failure but he would do anything to fix it. He wasn't just about to let the person who killed his parents roam free. Not even if that person was his uncle.
"Good, because unlike you brother. I. Won't. Fail."
