~The Beginning of the End~

For the past few days Connor has been MIA and surprisingly Sam found himself actually worrying because of the slight possibility that they could be brothers. He didn't want to think about it too much but all the signs pointed to the same conclusion, that Connor was Sam's dead brother. At least that's what he thought up until now. All he was waiting for was the news from Michael who had also been dead silent, but considering that he wasn't even supposed to be in contact with Sam, he just brushed it off. Sam mentally laughed at the irony. He never thought that he'd be the one to break the rules but to be fair he never thought that he'd see his dead brother again so it was 50-50.

The school day was dragging along and Sam had almost shot two teachers in the face, one being Mr. Royce, the math teacher, and two, Ms. Greengrocer, the history teacher. These two teachers just kept on giving Sam reasons why he should kill them. Almost as if they wanted him to.

Sam had started to question the entire mission, wondering why his uncle would want to kill Connor, the person who could possibly be his nephew.

"...gets a good place in hell."

Those words echoed all around the walls of Sam's head not knowing what Connor had done that was so bad for his uncle to want him in hell.

Sam wasn't religious, at all, but at that point, he was willing to do anything to get out of that dreaded history class. He started to pray, even if he didn't know what he was doing, just hoping to get out of that class, and as if the gods had heard him the bell rang and all the students rushed out of the class, all wanting to escape the horror that was Ms. Greengrocer.

As Sam was walking out of the class, with his head low, he bumped into someone. Sam's patience was running thin and the person who bumped into him was going to have it. Sam looked up only to see ember green eyes staring at him. All the anger immediately vanished as a strange feeling filled him. The feeling was so strange but yet so familiar. The girl who had a dazed look now wore a smile on her face that could make anybody melt in their shoes, but not Sam. Why would a random girl's smile make him melt?

"Sorry about that I didn't see you there. My name is Rose McGrath and you are?" When the girl spoke, the same strange feeling overwhelmed him and Sam broke out into a mental panic.

"Sa-Mick. My name's Mick." As he finished his sentence, he realized that he was about to tell her his real name, and even just the thought of being found out sent a shiver down his spine.

He never had to deal with the pressure of blowing his cover, come to think about it he never even had or felt the things he does now. This all started with... Connor.

Connor is the reason why Sam had been feeling all these emotions. Connor had unlocked the feelings that Sam had bottled up with the key that he never gave him. At that moment Sam knew that he had become vulnerable but thankfully his phone rang, pulling him out of his newly discovered thoughts. He took his phone and the moment he saw the caller ID; he froze. Mic-Heart it read. Sam laughed at the goofy name but just as he was about to answer someone awkwardly coughed, catching his attention. Sam looked up noticing the ember green-eyed girl who stood before him.

"Rose, was it? Sorry, but I have to go take this call. It is really important." He didn't really feel all that bad for just ditching her but the call was more important than anything else right now. He needed answers. He needed to know if there was even a slight possibility that Connor could be who Sam so desperately wanted him to be.

"Hey." Sam spoke.

"Hey Sam, I found the information you wanted." When those words left Michael's lips and passed through the phone and into Sam's ear, he entered a state of mini-panic. He didn't know why but he just did. "Connor Bolton, 18 years old and is currently a senior at Macendric High School. Family is deceased but consisted of a mum, dad, and little brother."

Sam subconsciously stopped breathing after what he heard. Younger brother, so it could be possible that they were related. Sam wanted the truth and he wanted it now!

At the mention of Connor's last name, Sam was almost persuaded but convinced himself that 'Bolton' was a very common last name, but when he heard that he had a little brother there was no doubt that he was Connor's little brother but even though he had already come to a decision, he still wanted to hear it from Michael.

"Is he my brother?" Even though he asked the question, he wasn't entirely sure if he wanted the answer. Some part of him hoped he was his brother but the other part was still conflicting. There was a long silence which worried Sam.

"I'm sure you already have an answer to your question." Michael was smug and Sam could almost picture how he looked as he said that. Another pause came after that and it was starting to eat at Sam.

"Michael Talk!" Sam was at the tipping point and Michael's silence gave him that small push he needed to fall off the cliff.

"Yes."
