evelyn gave draco a smile as she followed narcissa into a dark room that was dimly lit by a hanging chandelier.

though it was moderately big, evelyn couldn't help but feel slightly suffocated being in the same room as draco's mother.

the woman's dark hair, with a white-blonde undertone, was strictly tied back by a clip. with each step narcissa took, it made evelyn even more nervous as to what the woman would say or do.

"what do you think of the malfoy family tree?", narcissa suddenly asked, facing the only white wall in the entire room.

evelyn looked up to see a painted tree with many names and pictures on separate parts of the branches. it had made her wonder: what did it feel like to have a family?

the girl walked closer to the wall, seeing draco's name. he was the only heir of the family. evelyn's slim fingers graced over the picture of him, making her lips slightly curl up.

"it's wonderful", evelyn simply answered.

"a family full of purebloods. it's been that way for generations", narcissa commentated, making evelyn tense.

evelyn's eyes then glanced over at the woman, who was particularly staring at someone's picture and name.

'bellatrix lestrange?'

evelyn had thought that that name sounded very familiar. at least lestrange did.

"I had wondered to myself multiple times if you had somehow bewitched my son, as we raised him to only be with the elite", narcissa started.

evelyn couldn't help but blame draco's parents for his cocky, snobby behavior now. he and the other slytherins are the reason why house unity isn't exactly a thing.

"yet I can't help but notice the way he looks at you when he's with you. it almost reminds me of him being a little boy again. when he had
received his first wand, that's what he looks like", narcissa said as her slightly wrinkled fingers gently touched the name of her husband.

evelyn felt herself smile as she was glad that draco was happy with her. she wouldn't want him to feel otherwise.

"evelyn, can I call you that?", narcissa asked.

"of course mrs. malfoy", evelyn respectfully answered.

"narcissa's just fine. come sit", narcissa commanded as she had headed over to a black leather couch that was placed in the middle of the room.

evelyn sat a few inches away as again, she feels like and ugly duckling swimming on the lake next to a elegant black swan.

"your eyes are full of such innocence and wit. a loyal yet cunning hufflepuff you are", narcissa slightly smiled.

evelyn couldn't understand what the woman was getting at. one moment she felt as cold as an iceberg, and another, she was complimenting the girl's eyes.

narcissa brought her hand up to evelyn's face, cupping it and looking dead serious with her ocean blue eyes.

"I'm sure you've already figured out that lucius is a death eater. and you've met the dark lord haven't you?"
