Part 5 ... I think of the Power Series (hey look at that I actually have a series amongst one-shots who knew) and they keep on getting more depressing so be careful if you wanted to read and I hope you do because I'm really proud of this

Anyway @Riordanbooklover please don't hate me, I just had to add onto the angst that you say I'm great at so I'll let you decide whether this has enough angst or whether I need to work harder in the next one

Enjoy anyway

Power AU

NO MIST

Jason was having a bad day even before he died -- well scratch that Jason was having a bad week, month or year whatever you want to call it he was having a run of bad days and it all started when the twice Saviour of Olympus died.

To some losing, Percy was losing a leader to others a son or lover but to Jason along with many others they lost a friend and then from there things just got worse and worse, it started with Piper getting slain by a monster while out in the woods (Jason didn't quite know why she was there in the first place) and when he saw her mangled and bloodied body when Chiron brought it out of the woods, he nearly broke down, he may have broken up with her because he couldn't find it within himself to trust her anymore, especially as she had been using Charmspeak unknowingly and they had no clue whether she was lying or not but that didn't erase his love for her

Then Hazel and Annabeth started losing their minds both in different ways and although Jason tried to step up and become a leader as he had done in the Fifth Legion he could feel the cracks within Camp Half-Blood and he was sure the cracks were going to come for him next

It all started when he started feeling motion sickness as if he was travelling in a car or skies at high speeds and got a little sick except he wasn't moving anywhere though of course, he went straight to the Camp Infirmary and Will Solace fussed over him making sure he got the right treatment as they didn't want to lose another leader

But just like Percy, Jason ended up getting sick, no-one knew what was wrong with him all they knew was that he was finding it hard to breathe and the food and drink of the God's wasn't working on him.

So just as they had done with Percy they allowed the air around camp to be conditioned so it was just the right pressure and just the right temperature the whole time and no one was allowed to change it otherwise Jason would end up throwing up again violently and for a while, that seemed to work he wasn't getting any better sure but he also wasn't getting any sicker

But just like with any demigod, the fates really hated him

And just like that, his condition got worse and worse until the poor Roman demigod seemed to be hanging on by a thread if people looked closely they could see a sheen of sweat covering his already pale and half-dead features like he was suffering from a fever even though the room had to be cooled just like it had been since he arrived

"Tell me the truth Will, am I going to die?" Jason croaked, his eyes barely open but he could see the look of horror that crosses Will's features as if he had seen a ghost but he managed to collect himself and shook his head

"Sorry that was just the same thing that Percy said to me and the answer is I don't know whether you will die or not but I hope for all our sakes you will make it through this because you're not just our leader but also our friend," Will says and although it offers some comfort to the blonde-haired solider it was fleeting

"I'll fight for as long as I can, but I'd like to also join my other friends who are no longer with us," Jason told him, his voice barely above a whisper and he could barely move so that he stared straight ahead, talking even though it was only a few words it already had him feel drained

"You need your rest, Jason. No more talking" Will ordered, getting a sense of da ja vu as he walked out the medical bay leaving Jason alone with his thoughts who let the silence envelope him which was almost deafening and he yearned for someone to come back to his side and tell him everything was going to be okay

But he knew it wasn't, it hasn't been for a while

Sighing Jason closed his eyes, not wanting to open them again as he knew quite well that he was dying it was just a matter of time and, to be honest, the son of Jupiter never thought he would die by getting sick, he was supposed to do something important and be the leader and if he was to die he always thought it would have been a battle against monsters as he tried to save his friends and family -- not sitting in a bed unable to do anything and slowly waiting for him to die like Percy

He was destined for greater things than rotting away unable to do anything about it

How foolish he had been to think that going on quests with the Seven and saving the world would bring him a sense of accomplishment to him and to his father when the King of the Gods couldn't even bring himself to see his dying child once more, though he should have expected that from Jupiter who he hadn't expected it from was Thalia -- though he couldn't exactly blame her for not visting

He had hoped he would see Thalia again -- just once more -- but she was often busy with the Hunters and didn't have time for him anymore as Artemis had insisted she come with the Goddess on the next Hunt to collect new demigods and although at first Thalia refused, unmoving from Jason's bedside as she was scared to lose him again, Artemis finally won out and Thalia had to go with her maiden

And as Jason let out a shallow breath, one of his last ones it was Thalia's name that was on the tip of his tongue
