Chapter 29

"Mommy, huwag na po," I said to Mommy. She is groaning as she looking at Daddy. We are eating here at veranda for our lunch. Mommy wants to throw a party for me for passing the boards.

"Tayo na lang na magpapamilya and uhh mga close friends na rin..." I paused and then looked at the food in front of me. "...pati na rin sila Tita Ysabel at pamilya niya." I almost whispered.

"Uh well, I think... I think your idea was great too! Yeah, yeah, invite na lang natin sila Tita Ysabel mo. Oo nga 'no, Robert. Yes, kahit sila na lang," pagsang-ayon ni Mommy. Hindi ko mapigilang ngumuso sa naging reaksiyon ni Mommy.

"Robert, kailan ba magbabakasyon sina Liam dito?" I heard Mommy talking to Daddy in the living room. Nasa counter ako malapit sa kanila at nagce-cellphone lang.

"Tawagan mo naman ang anak mo na magbakasyon sila dito ng pamilya niya. Miss ko na ang apo ko. Palagi na lang siyang busy sa trabaho niya doon!" Mommy ranted.

Many people were greeting me for passing the boards. Even Daniel... he inboxed me and congratulate me.

Me:

Thank you, Daniel! If by chance Mommy will throw a simple party for me I will invite you here in our house if that's okay with you.

I replied because why not?

Nagthank you na lang din ako sa mga nagchat at nagtext sa akin. Pagkatapos kong magreply sa lahat ay nagfacebook muna ako. I scrolled down my feed and saw the long post of Sandra. I immediately gave it a heart reaction and type a comment 'Congratulations, Engr. Sandra Morales!' Nakatanggap naman ako agad ng reply sa kanya.

Sandra Morales: Thank you and Congratulations, Engineer Almedya!

My lips automatically formed a smile when I read the word Engineer. Nakakakilig, engineer na ako! But my smile suddenly disappear when suddenly a notification popped up and saw that Kai is sending me friend request.

Damn...

I clicked the profile first. Hindi nga ako nagkamali nang makita ko ng buo ang profile picture niya. It was him wearing a lab gown and an eyeglasses. My heart hitched the moment I stared at his profile picture.

I immediately accepted his friend request.

Hindi ko na nasundan ang ibang kwentuhan nila Mommy dahil umakyat na ako agad sa aking kuwarto habang hawak-hawak ang cellphone.

My heartbeats doubled when he sent me a message. My lips parted because my breath is hitching. Omg! What to do?

Marahan akong umupo sa aking kama at nanginginig na hinahawakan ang cellphone.
