Prologue

Beethoven once said, "Music can change the world."

I pushed with my own finger the white key, and then the black key, and a sound suddenly appeared. I was amazed how this beautiful thing works. Somehow, while playing this thing, it calms my heart and my soul. It's like I've been very familiar with it and it feels too comfortable. I pushed another key.

Wait. Tama ba ginagawa ko?

I shook my head and never mind. Wala namang nakakarinig kaya ayos lang kung pangit ang pagtugtog ko. I was alone here in the music room. I've been playing this piano just a while ago, and I enjoyed playing this. Parang sa bawat tunog na naririnig ko, napaka-pamilyar sa akin. Parang ang tagal-tagal ko na itong ginagawa, na parang mahal na mahal ko ang ginagawa.

I've been playing this piano because I am desperate... to remember everything.

I stopped for a moment. I roamed my eyes inside the room. It's quiet, I like it here. Palagi kaya ako magpunta rito? I am always awkward when I am with my classmates. They're kind to me but I feel like they aren't true with me. Naaawa lang kaya sila sa akin?

I shook my head with my own thoughts. I continued playing the piano but eventually I stopped right after I realized that I am not alone in this room.

Oh my gosh! May tao!

My body froze the moment I saw a man stood up from lying on the ground at the back of the room's door. Ni hindi ko man lang siya nakita nang pagpunta ko rito. Halatang kagagaling niya lang siya sa pagtulog dahil namumungay kanyang mga mata. His hair is kind a messy too. He fixed his uniform's collar and then his hair. Oh my god, nakakahiya! Narinig ba niya iyong pagtugtog ko?

I don't know why I keep on staring at him. It's like I've known him for years. Well, I don't know. His eyes found mine and I blinked twice. My face heated because he caught me staring at him.

"Uhhmm... Sorry, nagising ba kita?" I smiled apologetically.

He shook his head and smiled to me. My heart beats fast. His smile is very familiar. Hindi ko maalala.

I shook my head.

"H-hindi ko alam na may tao pala rito, sorry naistor-"

"I was listening while you're playing piano... and you're really good at it. I enjoyed the song."

My eyes widened. I was about to say thank you to him when he immediately went outside the music room. I placed my hand on my chest, it is beating loudly as of the moment. I don't know him. Well, do I know him? I don't know, I can't remember.
