I ran towards Zandro and wrapped my arms around him. I buried my face on his chest and cried.
"Hey, what's wrong, Sapphire? Why is my baby crying?"
I shook my head, my face is still buried on his chest. He combed my hair softly, making me calm down.
"Shh... Everything's alright... I'm here..."
Ilang saglit at huminahon ako. He cupped my face and wiped my tears using the back of his thumb. I looked at him in the eye.
"I'm sorry for doubting you..."
He shook his head. "No, it's okay. I understand... You were traumatized by what I did before. Ako ang dapat humingi ng tawad."
"Still... May kasalanan pa rin ako." I looked down and bit my lower lip. I heaved a deep breath and gazed at him back. "Let's start over again..."
"Ano?"
"I'm giving us a second chance..."
His smile fell. Kumunot ang aking noo.
"A-Ayaw mo na ba sa 'kin?"
Instead of answering my question, a tear escaped from his eye. He pulled me close to him and kissed me. It was a soft swift kiss. Dumilat ako pagkatapos. Our faces are so close that our nose is touching.
"Mahal kita... Mahal na mahal kita, Sapphire..."
"Mahal rin kita, Zandro..."
I kissed him on his lips, deeply this time.
"3... 2... 1... Happy new year!!!"
I greeted Zandro and hugged him tightly.
"Happy birthday my love! I have a gift for you."
Kumalas ako sa yakap at tinignan siya, may malaking ngiti sa aking labi.
"What is it?"
He leaned closer and gave me a soft kiss. Pagkatapos ay dumilat ako at tinitigan siya, nakakunot ang noo.
"Anong regalo mo?"
"Yung kiss... Di pa ba yun sapat?"
I rolled my eyes at him. He chuckled.
"Just kidding... May regalo talaga ako sayo..."
I held out my hand like a little girl asking for a lollipop.
"Saan na?"
Binatukan niya ako at tumawa.
"Wa'g kang atat! Mamaya pa no!"
I pouted then he pinched my cheeks.
"Kumain na nga lang tayo..."
I nodded enthusiastically and we went to the breakfast table to eat what he cooked. Ang ambag ko lang ay banana cake. Habang kumakain tumawag ang aking pamilya. Hindi pa nila alam ang tungkol sa 'min ni Zandro. Hindi ko naman intensyon na ilihim sakanila. I just want to tell them once we're back in the Philippines.
