She gathered up her things quickly, knocking back her drink and grabbing what was left of her scone to eat on the way home. Leaving a generous tip on the table, almost as an apology to Molly, she legged it out of the cafe. She couldn't sit through this. She'd never been good with confrontation, and this was no exception. She headed down towards the water, to take a walk down the pier. That always helped calm her down. The sound of the waves crashing against the rocks grounded her.
The pier was colder today than usual, but that was okay. She sat herself down on a rock by the water and breathed deeply. In, out. In, out. The air was icy, cold enough that it felt like burning. In, out. In, out. Was Molly okay, she wondered. She had no idea what had her so riled up about Jackson, save his snarky attitude. How long would he be around for? She didn't like the effect he was having on her friend.
Well, she wasn't quite sure they were friends actually. They'd never really seen each other outside the cafe.
