Chapter 15 - Shocking News [Rewritten]

I can hear the shooting cease, as the one marine was shot down from running away from me, and into the group.

I run into the lobby, clutching my arm.

"Gabby! I am so glad you're here!"

Tommy says, dropping his gun.

"Hello, Gabrielle!"

Dr. Coomer says, wiping blood off of his face.

"Hey, Gabby!"

Gordon says, standing up from a body to look at me.

Bubby doesn't say anything, as he grabs Dr. Coomer and whispers in his ear, thus making Dr. Coomer look at me in worry.

I glare at Bubby and sighed in defeat.

No matter what I do, he still thinks I'm a bad guy.

I cross my arms and leaned against the wall.

Dr. Coomer walked over to me and said,

"Gabrielle? Can I speak with you?"

I look at him in surprise and look at the floor.

"Is this about what Bubby told you?"

I say uncrossing my arms and putting them in my pockets.

"Yes. Is it true?"

Dr. Coomer says, waiting patiently for my answer.

"No. It's not. I swear, I woke up clueless to where I was. I didn't side with the marines. I would never betray you guys! You. . .you guys are. . ."

I say, slightly cracking.

"My best friends!"

I shout, hugging Dr. Coomer while the tears start to fall.

He hugs me back and replies,

"I'm so sorry we thought that. I am going to go tell Bubby the truth"

I pulled from the hug.

"Thank you! Maybe he will stop hating me now!"

He nods and walks over to Bubby. I can see them converse, watching Bubby's facial expressions as Dr. Coomer tells him I am not a traitor.

Once they are finished talking, Bubby looks over at me with a sad look. Dr. Coomer mentions me over to them, and I walk over.

"Hey, Bubby"

I say, smiling at him.

"Hey, Gabby. I'm sorry I thought you were part of their team. They told me you were with them. I didn't know what to believe I'm sorry."

I look at him through his glasses, and say,

"It's okay, Bubby. I forgive you"

I look over at Gordon and his lower arm is missing.

"Oh my god! Gordon! Your arm!"

I run over to Gordon, and grab his stump of an arm.

"Oh yeah. The marines cut it off when they apprehended me. It hurts like hell, so try not to touch the open part."

I pull my hand away, wincing.

"Well, I hope you get better!"

He smiles.

"Thanks!"

I smile back, and he walks over to Dr. Coomer.

Tommy runs up to me and spins me around.

"Woah! Tommy! Why are you so excited?"

I say, surprised by his action.

"I saw this note in one of these rooms. It has your name on it!"

Tommy reached into his pocket and pulled out a pink piece of paper. He handed it to me, and I took it. I flipped over the paper and there it said,

To Gabrielle Cooper, my daughter, if she ever survives in this mess

I glance up and Tommy with wide eyes. He excitedly claps his hands, and says,

"Read it! Read it!"

Everyone gathers around me as I open the note up.

The note said,

Gabby, sweet child of mine,

If you find this note, that means you are nearby.

What you saw that day was not the truth.

The note was unreal, but the last sentence gave me chills.

I'm not dead.

"Oh my god! She's. . .here? I can't. . ."

I stop talking, as my brain shuts down from the shocking news. My legs go limp, and I pass out.

Gabrielle. I am here now, there's no need to worry.

I wake up with a gasp.

Tommy says, getting down on a knee to see how i'm doing.

Tommy puts out his hand to help me up.

I say to him.

"You're welcome, Gabby!"

He smiles at me.

"Now that you're awake, we can find your mother!"

I smile and walk further into the complex.
