Ash and Gou are 16 years old in this book. The Professor is in his late 30s. This takes place after Pokémon Journeys Ep. 32. Everything up to the end of that episode has happened before this. Everything after that epsiode has been split into 2 timelines. This story is a different timeline, while the one in the anime is another.*

October 20, Cerise Laboratory:
*Author POV*

A nice morning in the Cerise Laboratory was suddenly interrupted by the bellow of a teenager.

"AHHHHHHH OWWWWWWWWWWWW!!!"

*Ash POV*

"Hey why'd you that for?!" I cried out.

"You wouldn't wake up that's why." said Gou.

"Yeah, whatever Mr. I Gotta Catch Them All." I said teasingly.

"Well let's get breakfast Mr. World Champion." he responded back with some sass.

"Touché. Let's go!" I exclaimed.

We both rushed downstairs to serve ourselves some breakfast. As we turned the corner we bumped into the Professor, Professor Cerise. He then said, "I've been looking for you guys!"

It must be one of his surprises he always has for us.

The professor then said, "I am very interested in Dynamax and Gigantamax as I would love to learn more!" "So, I will send you both to Galar for some days to gather data about it!"

Me and Gou looked at each other with big smiles as we knew that this was going to be a fun trip.

"Awesome, can't wait to use Dynamax!" I said pointing to my Dynamax band.

"I'm very interested in that too but also I want to catch new Galar pokemon." said Gou.

"Well great news! Your flight leaves in 3 hours, I'll drop you guys off at the airport." said the professor.

"Airport, huh..." I thought to myself reflecting my dream from earlier. I must have spaced out for a bit because all I heard next was...

"Uhhh... hello? Earth to Ash?" said Gou waving his hand across my face.

"Y-yeah, sorry just thinking about Dynamax..." I said nervously.

"Well let's eat and get ready to leave." said my friend.

*Time Skip to Ash and Gou inside the plane waiting for takeoff*

"Galar, seems pretty cool right Ash?" said Gou.

"Yeah, but I think there are some other pretty cool regions out there too!" I said eagerly.

"Like which ones?" asked my friend.

"Well for starters, Alola is pretty cool!" "Also, Sinnoh is really nice." "I really like Kalos alot too!" I exclaimed.

"Wow, I didn't know you traveled there." said my friend, interested to learn about my adventures.

"Well, I have and I've travelled with a lot of great friends..." I said remembering my journeys until I thought about her again. I spaced out for a minute until my friend shook my shoulder asking me question.

He asked, "Are you okay?"

I nodded.

He looked at me with doubt but decided to just leave me alone.

I stared outside the airplane window thinking about what she's doing and wondering when I'll see her again.

"Serena..." I mutted silently to myself before takeoff.
