I thank Sabina for the trip but she just scoffs it off, friendly. "Consider this as your finishing school treat. You deserve it."

Moments later, Saint emerges out of the hallway with his reflexes half-awake and groggily rubbing his eyes.

"Good morning, sleepy head," Sabina jokes at his son and Saint waves wearily at us.

"Hai," he croaks as he trudges himself towards the refrigerator for a drink. "What are you guys doing?"

"We're checking the photos I took earlier," Sabina waves the digicam at him. "Wanna take a look at it?"

"I'll get you the juice," I offer and get down from the stool.

Saint nods and ambles towards Sabina, cocking his head down at the panel screen behind the camera as I serve him a glass of juice.

"Thanks," he takes the glass from my hand, turns back towards the screen and scowls, "I look fat in that shirt."

"Better than being scrawny," I respond while watching him slurping his juice.

"I think you look dashing as ever," Sabina complements. "How do you find jalan-jalan (trip) today?"

"The best I've ever had actually," his senses perk up by the memory of today's trip. "I beat all of the kids during the science quiz. That was awesome! We never had jalan-jalan like this for a long time. We should do it often, perhaps next year we'll go to Cameron Highlands or Genting Highlands. Kak Sofia should come too."

"Kak Sofia's going to college soon, I doubt she'll have time for that next year," Sabina mutters.

"Maybe before she goes to college?" Saint suggests.

"Okay, sure. We'll see about that," Sabina signals me with her eyes and I nod to concur.

The kitchen went quiet for a bit when Saint finishing his drink. But it took us by surprise when he abruptly utters, "Mommy, I want Kak Sofia to be my girlfriend when I grow up!"

"Ha?!" Sabina and I exclaim in unison.

"I said I want-"

"No, you want someone like me. Not me," I correct.

"I change my mind. I don't think I can find anyone like Kak Sofia to look after me," Saint affirms. "I want Kak Sofia to marry me and take care of me forever."

"There's definitely someone out there who's capable enough to take care of you, Saint. You just haven't met her yet," I encounter. "That time will come."

"Why not Kak Sofia?"

"Because..." I pause, feeling overwhelmed by his assertion. Can he not address me as a third person while talking to me?

I turn to Sabina, seeking for her to save the situation. But instead, she gawks at us and at a loss for words. She's unable to decipher the argument we had, so she just watches us debating over something trivial.

"I think by the time you're big enough to be my boyfriend, I'll be very old already," I tell him.

"Mommy is old but she still beautiful," he contends.

"Okay, we're gonna send Kak Sofia home!" Sabina finally breaks off our argument, swipe the glass from the table and dumps it inside the sink. "All these talk makes me hungry. Let's have dinner at Victoria Station before we drop her. What say you?"

We both agree to the idea. Sabina pushes herself up and announces her intention to take shower and insists that Saint do the same.

"By the way, Sofia," she turns to me. "The photos are quite a lot and the file sizes are big. So, I'll save your good photos before giving them to you in a bunch of diskettes during your next visit. Bear with me, okay?"

Just as she left the kitchen, I swiftly glower at him. "What the hell was that about?"

"I'm being frank. I like you," he says bluntly.

"No, you don't like me. You like the idea of having me around," I growl. "There's a difference."

"No, I like you. Why is it hard for you to understand? It's not like I speak elvish," he frowns.

"Well, you're a jokester from the start. So, I can't tell if you're being serious or not," I hop off from the stool. "Anyways, you heard what mommy says. We're going to have dinner after this. Go ahead and take shower. You do smell like burning metal already."

He laughs. "By the way, do you know that Padme Armidala is Darth Vader's wife?"

"I thought she's married to Anakin Skywalker."

"Anakin Skywalker is Darth Vader," he clarifies.

"Okay, so?" I shrug, uninterested.

"You used to call yourself Queen Armidala and called me Master Vader, remember?" he reminisces. "I think you already predicted our future."
