To Tell A Tale Of Tales

"If time brought it together in collaboration with God, then time can always take 'em apart. You just gotta make the best of what you've got!"

Forget the lies and fairytales—
That made us meet like loving gales,
Tell me of the pain, the details—
Of the day and the way you broke me and what it entails
'Cause I can't stand another day without you and all the fails,
The fails that come with trying to stay normal and trying to silence the tears and the whales—
Of loneliness that eat at my memory, leaving red embers of us, leaving me in travails!

You see? I would sacrifice almost anything to live the fairy tales,
The ones we told each other in poems that set our dreams a-sail,
The ones that blended us together like the best cocktails—
But lo, each time I stare and see a couple kiss,
I'm left feeling the pain that would be for me to tell my children a tale of fails,
A long "fairy tale" that never happened, a tale of tales.
