THE YEAR 5012. Aliens from outer space launched an invasion of Earth. Due to their military creations, called "Machines," humankind was annihilated. The few survivors sought refuge on the moon. The year 5204. Counteroffensive measures using androids were initiated from the twelve bases constructed in satellite orbit. Within the same year, they made many sorties to Earth and delivered large-scale attacks. However, due to the sheer number of Machines, they failed to land a decisive blow. Then, for several thousand years, the battle was deadlocked. To take the upper hand, research and development for a definitive anti-Machines measure, the JeaGer android, was launched. After performing many experiments with prototypes, the first JeaGer android was created in the year 11937. Roughly a hundred years had passed since the founding of the project. December of the year 11940. The thirteenth satellite orbit base, "Bunker," went into operation. In December of the following year, sixteen experimental models of the JeaGer androids carried out the "Pearl Harbor Descent Attack." However, fifteen androids were lost. The single remaining android, Attacker No. 2, fled. Although the enemies' server room in the basement of Mount Ka'ala was eradicated, all androids went missing. March of the year 11945. The 243rd descent attack was carried out by the JeaGer squadron. Six androids consisting of the captain Type D No. 1, Type R No. 2, Type R No. 4, Type E No. 7, Type R No. 11, and Type R No. 12 were deployed in a flight unit down to Earth to ambush a Goliath-class Machine reported to live in some factory ruins. However, due to an unexpectedly fast response from the Machine, four androids were destroyed immediately after entering the atmosphere, and one android went missing. The lone survivor, Type R No. 2 (referred to later as 2R), united with Type S No. 9 (referred to later as 8S), who had been performing exploratory research at the site, to continue the mission. The duo of 2R and 8S investigated the factory ruins that had been converted into a Machine manufacturing factory, and located the Goliath-class Machine. 8S was damaged by the aforementioned enemy. 2R, who was granted permission to use the flight unit, destroyed the enemy. They were immediately surrounded by multiple Goliath-class Machines. After abandoning their plan to call for help from HQ, a black-box response triggered a self-destruct mechanism, annihilating multiple Goliath-class Machines. Due to the aforementioned events, the chassis of 2R and 8S, as well as the support unit pods consisting of three 042 pods and three 153 pods, were lost. As a result of the simultaneous destruction of all units, the reprogramming of the successor support pods was not executed in time. Only one support unit had been assigned the task of transferring data, but this has since been recognized as a bad practice. Note: in future situations similar to the aforementioned, it is recommended to complete the pod program upload as soon as possible. Due to complications of the communications zone, personal data backups of both androids

failed, and only 2R's data was uploaded. This was a product of 8S's sacrificial nature, but coupled with other circumstances. The psychological damage to 2R is worrisome. Note: this is also something that should be monitored closely. Aside from the JeaGer androids lost in the descent attacks, there have been recent cases of lost contact with squadron troops who had previously been dispatched to Earth. Therefore, although they had just returned from exterminating the Goliath-class Machines, 2R and 8S were assigned to a new tour of duty on Earth. Making use of intel and the military post of the local resistance, investigate and destroy the enemy... That is the official objective, but there are plans to assign 2R an additional objective. That mission has been classified as top secret by HQ. However, when and where that mission will be carried out is undetermined at the moment. Additionally, 8S, 2R's companion, does not have top secret clearance. Furthermore, there is a mission for us pod programs that is yet to be announced. The time and place of this mission is undetermined, and 2R and 8S, as well as all other androids, will never be informed of the matter.
