Chapter 11: Bring the guitars!

“Which one?” Hope asked, holding up two shades of pink nail polish.

“They look almost the same.” I replied in a bored tone.

“You are hopeless,” Hope said in disappointment. “Ash? Which one?”

“It doesn't matter, Hope , why do you always make a huge deal out of every small thing?” Ash replied, irritated.

“You're being so rude.... You know what? It's my fault I just shouldn't have suggested doing our nails to shift your focus from your problems.”

“Did I ask you to?” Ash asked in the same tone.

Both of them stayed silent after that.

We were in our bedroom. After Ashley's break down in the afternoon she became quiet once again. It looked like she was mourning someone's death . To divert her from her problems Hope thought it would be fun to do our nails and have a makeover without any reasons, just like what we used to do when we were younger. So in the evening Hope brought out her make-up boxes for the starter but Ashley was still grumpy about everything which caused a contention between those two sisters. Me, not finding what to say , stayed silent.

Suddenly the bell was rung but none of us budged from our place. After some time Dani came to our room.

He said, “Mom said you guys are upstairs in your room doing your useless makeovers. I thought I should check what kind of clowns you guys have made yourself up. But you guys are still normal humans , what happened? What pissed you guys off?”

“Ash,” Hope replied. “She just wants to stay like this . We just shouldn't care about her . I'm out of here. You just rot in your misery!” With that she stormed out of the room.

“Hooo...... What was all that about?” Dani asked, being surprised.

Ashley stayed quiet.

“Ash broke up with Joe,” I said.

“You did?!!” Dani asked in astonishment .

Ashley gave him a look, seeing that any normal person would have gotten the hint to shut up. But Dani, being the irritating person he was, continued ,  “And you are sad for that?Ash you broke up , right? Then why are you being sad? It's his fault. He had to lose you because of his foolishness. Why are you being like this ? Cheer up sis!”

“You think it's easy for me?” Ashley said , she was almost on the verge of tears. But her eyes flashed anger. I knew that look. It meant the next thing she was going to do or say would be the stupidest thing she would ever do. And she would regret that later, in future. So I tried to stop her from saying anything further. But before me Dani said, “ It was your choice then why sulking for that?” and Ashley without giving me a chance to stop her said right after that in a mocking tone, “ Ironic, it's the same person advising me, who himself broke up with his girlfriend but isn't really sure if he's still in that relationship or not.” She ended with a mocking dry laugh.

It left me speechless. I should have stopped her . Ashley said the stupidest thing when she's upset but that was.... wow!

The look on Dani's face showed that he never expected any of us would ever say something like that to him ever. He didn't reply to Ashley and went out of the room. Ashley started crying once again. And I , not knowing if I should follow Dani or sit by Ashley , finally decided to be by Ashley. As she needed me the most then. I knew she had already been regretting what she said to Dani.

I sat by Ashley. She looked at me with her teary eyes and said , “I shouldn't have said that ? Hope is right I'm so rude. I don't deserve anyone . That's why Joe didn't love me. Why are you still here ? I'll be rude to you too. Just go before that!”
