What if Oikawa couldn't play against Karasuno, and didn't have a chance to go to nationals at all. As in picture this; Oikawa hurts his knee again from over practicing right before their match. Meaning everything he's practiced for, everything he'd done, all the sacrifices he'd made were pointless. All of it would hit him at once he'd realized he played his last game with Iwa-chan. He threw his last official toss to him without even thinking about it. He never got a chance to say a proper goodbye to playing the sport he did everything for with the person he cared for the most, that was it.

Imagine if Oikawa had heart problems because of stress and didn't tell anyone because he wanted to keep playing. Then imagine he had a heart attack in the middle of a game and died, Iwa-chan would blame himself forever. Iwa-chan had no idea that'd be the last toss he received from his setter or the last game they played together. He didn't know he'd lose his captain like that, but there was nothing he could do to change it. He was left alone.
