I want to run. Run away as far as I can.

“I now request Ms. April Adams to come up on stage and present her project.”

My heartbeat stopped listening to my name being called.

Breathe….Breathe….

I slowly walked up to the stage. I keep my gaze low.

Run….Run…..

I tightly clenched my hand, walked on to the stage, and stand in front of the microphone.

I look up and froze the instant I saw all the employees of Martínez Enterprise including Mr. Martínez looking at me.

Run……Run……

I closed my eyes and took a long deep breath.

I focused on my breathing. As it starts to get normal.

I finally start my presentation.

My voice was shaking from nervousness but still, I proceed.

Between my speech I slowly looked at Mr. Martínez hoping to see a softer look on him, hoping to feel that unknown feeling once again, instead I saw a hard cold look plastered over his face.

I quickly look away and continue the presentation.

“Stop.” A voice said loudly and I froze in my place.

The entire hall went silent, not a single sound can be heard.

“What is this crap?” The voice yelled again.

There was no need for me to look up to see who that was because I was way too familiar with that voice.

My whole body shaking, I tightly clenched my hand.

“This is a project?”

“You call this a project?”

“You actually thought you would stand a chance to get a job in a multinational company like us by blabbering out shit like that?”

Tears roll down from my cheeks.

“I was so right about you from the first day.”

“I knew a person like you don’t deserve to be here but I still gave you a chance out of pity but now I think I have made a mistake.”

I couldn’t take it.

I couldn’t take any more harsh words.

I ran.

I ran down from the stage outside the hall.

I couldn’t take it anymore.

I felt my skin burn from their gaze.

Those words pierced through my skin like needles.

I just wanted to get vanished into thin air.

I ran towards the roof, a gust of wind welcomed me with its warm touch and I broke down.

I cried loudly trying to get rid of all the pain but nothing seems to work.

I sat there crying until there was no tear left for me to shred.

My throat sore from pain.

And then I sat there numb.

I felt the darkness of the night consuming me slowly.

Nothing crossed my mind.

I was once again disgusted and disappointed in myself for even thinking of trusting a man.

How stupid am I?

This entire time he pitied me and I thought…..

A painful chuckle escaped my mouth.

I sat there for a long time.

The wind was getting chilly.

I finally pulled myself up and my emotions together and went downstairs.

At this point, I didn’t care about what people would think of me or how messy I looked after all the crying I just wanted to get home and sleep.

I slowly went downstairs a faint soft music can be heard.

I quickly entered the hall and saw my bag lying on the floor where I left it.

I picked it up and walked outside.

I was about to get onto the elevator someone called my name.

I turned around and saw Angelina and two other girls.

“Well that was a fun show you put up there,” she said with a sarcastic laugh.

“I have never seen him lash out at anyone so badly in front of so many people.”

“He must really hate you.”

"Are you done?" I asked looking straight at her.

“Not so soon bitch.” she spits out. Anger and hatred were visible in her tone.

“They have organized a party for the inters down the hall. You should join, don’t you think?”

"No, thank you."

I was about to walk out she pulled me hard her nails digging deep in my skin.

“Let’s have a little more fun, shall we?”

She pulled me harshly down the hall followed by the other two girls.

"Let go of me."

I yelped in pain.

She stopped in front of the bar.

Lift a glass full of golden liquid.

“Drink.”

"No," I said as sternly as possible.

There is no way I am drinking alcohol or whatever that is.

She clasped my jaw tightly and poured the liquid into my mouth.

My throat burned as soon as I gulped it.

She grabbed another glass and poured it into my mouth followed by another one.

I coughed in pain as tears fall down from my eyes.

She gave me a dirty look pushed me hard in my shoulder and left.

I slowly sat down in a chair nearby.

A feeling of relaxation and warmth slowly took over me.

“Do you need a drink?”

I looked up to see a bartender or someone I don’t know.

I let out a soft giggle, sure.

He smiled and hand me another drink.

I quickly gulped it down in one shot.

I pushed the glass back to the man looking up at his face for him to give me another glass.

He let out a small chuckle and filled it up.

I was about to lift up the glass a large hard clasped my hand tightly stopping me from lifting it.

I tried to move the hand up but it won’t budge.

Move

I said looking at the hand holding me but it still didn’t budge.

I looked up to see Mr.Martínez giving me a deathly glare.
