Chapter Eleven: Part two

"Valerie? Valerie?"

I managed to get my hand out of his grip and I hit the door and hit his head. He let me go and I rushed outside, colliding straight into Max as I coughed, trying to grasp some air.

"Valerie!! What's wrong?"

My throat hurt, and I couldn't say anything, so I just pointed inside the house. When he saw that I had pointed into the house, he got in.

He came back a few of minutes later, with a cup of water for me to drink.

"There was no one in there. What happened?"

After gulping the water, I told him what had happened

"I'm calling the police. Wow, I can't believe this happened. Why didn't you tell me about the letter?"

I just kept quiet, not really in the mood to answer questions, replaying all that happened today. I can't believe that I almost died today.

He took me inside the car, and made me sit down while the police were coming. When they got here, I told them what had happened.

"Mr Williams actually escaped from prison, and we were looking for him. If he's come here, then that means you're in danger. We'll assign a police officer for you to keep watch of you. And we'll look for him. We will catch him."

"Thank you officers." Max was the one who was now talking with one of the police men who had arrived. I just sat there, dumbfounded.

He's after me? He wants to kill me now?

I touched my throat and it was really painful. I wiped off a few tears that had escaped. I hate feeling this weak.

I hadn't noticed that the police had left until Max came in front of me

"Sweetheart?"

I just looked at him

"I can't let you stay here on your own. You're coming to my place."

His place?

"The last thing I want is to be a burden to someone."

He looked angry for a second, until he closed his eyes and inhaled sharply and exhaled slowly.

"Valerie. It's not safe for you to be here."

I just looked to the side.

"Please, Max. Just go home. I'll be fine here on my own."

Max ruffled his hair as he looked to the side. He took out his phone and called someone

"Come to the location where I'll send the address to after this. I want you to guard this woman when I'm not around."

Dude?!?

I was about to take the phone when he held my hand in his. He had his call and hung up

"You can't just do that."

His voice was stern when he replied

"If you won't come to my place, then take the bodyguard."

His voice held this tone of finality that just made me keep quiet. He seemed to be pleased with the silent reply and typed furiously on his phone.

About half an hour later, a car pulled up on the side of the road, and a man, a very bulky and tight muscled one walked out of that car. He was wearing all black, which made him even more intimidating. When he was in front of us, Max introduced us to each other. The guard's name is Greg. Apparently, that's all I had to know at that time.

"Keep her safe, Greg."

"Will do, boss."

His deep voice even sounded intimidating.

He took my hand and led me inside the house and sat me down in my room. He crouched down in front of me so that we are at eye level. His stormy eyes held so many different emotions in them. I couldn't even decipher which was the biggest one there.

"You're safe now, Vee. He won't came anywhere near you, okay?"

"Okay."

He kisses my cheek

And leaves.

Anyways, there's the update. I hope that it's okay. I will be having online lessons soon so they will be definitely taking more time out of my hands but I will try to update.
