let's talk about life and college

this is gonna be more of like a life update and a bit of a discussion uwu

so uhhhhh

i'm a senior now

and that's crazy to think about

but also dang almost all of the friends i made on here have graduated and like wow

i'm so proud of you guys :,))) and you're all gonna do great things and i cant wait to see where you all end up!!

now that i'm going into my senior year i've seriously been considering where i want to go to college. i seriously have no idea what i want to do, but i think i've decided on the two schools i would really love to get into

also a healthy reminder that i'm from alabama (and i hate it here)

so my goal is to get out of alabama asap and to get as far away as i can

there's a lot of aspects about living here that i hate that are completely unrelated to the stereotypes of dating cousins and etcetera

i really hate alabama for a lot of reasons, but of course there are parts of alabama i love. overall, however, i just know i want to get out of here and explore other places

so the two schools i've mainly been looking at are columbia university and the university of washington

so columbia is an ivy league school i've been looking at since before freshman year. i'm at the low-mid part of their act range and with a 3.98 gpa i say i'm pretty much in their target gpa range.

but i understand that columbia is very much a reach school. even though i managed to get my superscored act up to a 33, im lacking in so many areas.

that's why i started researching reputable schools that are more achievable for me. that's when i found the university of washington

i'm above uw's act range and as far as i'm aware, i stand a good chance of getting accepted even with a 48% acceptance rate

if any of you know anything about uw could you uhhhh maybe share uwu 🥺👉👈

everything about uw is so intriguing to me (even more so than columbia tbh)

uw was named one of the most lgbtq+ inclusive and friendly colleges in the u.s., and from what i've heard their bio program is incredible. (also i live off of starbucks and ummm it's seattle so). and the campus looks so beautiful

also, it's as far away from alabama as i can get in the contiguous states hehe

so to any seniors/graduates that might be reading this right now, what would your advice be? is going out of state worth it?

i just hate being in alabama but money is also a concern of mine.

for columbia i'd be paying around $35k a year and for uw i'd be paying around $30k a year, and neither of those numbers include scholarships

would it be worth it?

anyways

i hope everyone stays safe with all that's going on in the nation. you're all loved. no one's life has less value than another's.

protect yourself, protect your beliefs, and protect your rights.

to those fighting for their rights right now, i may not understand exactly what you're going through, but you have my support and i stand with you.

i love you all, and once again please stay safe
