This Pandemic

This pandemic made me see

the ignorance and stupidity

of humanity.

The racism, the geed,

the paranoia, the insanity.

Our love for discrimination,

persecution and oppression.

Simply because of the differences

and impressions.

The stereotypes we put on people,

trying to fit them into boxes they don't belong.

Pointing fingers at each other,

claiming they were in the wrong.

The fear, the paranoia,

the selfishness, the greed.

Friends and families break,

ignoring others' pleads.

We don't care about the welfare of others,

we only care for our own.

we don't care if they're sick

or starving to the bone.

The corruption of our world leaders,

Who only care for their own sake.

Only caring to help out

when their power is at stake.

The ignorance of humans,

believing in permanent peace.

We take everything for granted,

until disaster has been released.

This pandemic made me see

The unity we lack as a species.

Fighting amongst ourselves

instead of a common enemy.

So please,

give me back my belief

in humanity

<-------------------------------->

The was a poem I wrote shortly after the coronavirus outbreak in 2020.

I wrote it to express my frustration towards how the coronavirus outbreak was handled.

I broke my heart to witness people suffering in silence while the others are to busy fighting amongst themselves to even help out.

The poem is really badly written as it was kinda written in the heat of the moment, but it does accurately describe my disappointment in humanity.
