Chapter Thirty-Five, Is brick okay?

~Berserk's P.O.V~

"I killed him!", I yelled forcing back the tears. "It was an accident.. You didn't mean to..", brat said as she tried to comfort me. "It's not your fault.. It is his own fault he was the one who pushed momoko out of the way and took the hit for her", brute said. "I can't believe he gave up his life for her!", I said. "He must of really loved her", the red haired guy said. I'm not sure why but those three dudes followed us back to our abandon building. "I'm done.. I don't want to interfere in the puffs lives any more..", I said. "Me to... I'm calling it quits", brat said. "Yea it's for the best", brute said. I could feel my eyes tearing up. I didn't want to cry in front of the guys though. All of these feelings swirled in my mind. I hated myself for killing brick. it was so stupid of us to even fall for the ruffs. We let our feelings interfere with the job mojo hired us to do. But I guess we sort of succeeded with Mojo's job since I accidentally killed brick. We should of turned down Mojo's offer so then we would of never been in this situation and brick would still be alive. I know my sisters have decided to give up on the ruffs because they don't want butch and boomer to suffer the same fate as brick. I could feel my eyes start to water again but the red guy was staring at me as if he was deep in thought. suddenly I felt angry that he was here. who is he? "Who the hell are you anyway?", I asked. "Where the terrible tuff boys z... I'm bruise", the red haired guy said. "I'm brutal", the black haired guy said. " and I'm bomber", the blonde haired guy said. "Where are you from?", brat asked. "Here", bomber said. "You know how mojo created the ruffs out of the puffs' thing well he created us from the things you guys left behind at his house", bruise said. "He did?!", I asked. "Yep", brutal said. "We go to the same school", bomber said. "Why have I never ran into you guys before?!", I asked. "I don't know.. Maybe we have walked passed each other once or twice. But if we did you would think I would of remembered such a beautiful face", bruise said to me. I blushed and looked down at my feet. Bruise was actually really cute. "So why did you guys show up at the fight today?", brute asked. "Mojo sent us to kill the ruffs. And we wanted to take the puffs and run off to a different city with them as there new boyfriends but I think I'm interested in some one else now", bruise said as he winked at me. "There is just some thing about you that just intrigues me", brutal said as he stared at brute. "Do you guys think we was going after the wrong girls this whole time?", bomber asked. Bruise nodded his head. "I know this is sudden and you just met us but would you girls like to hang out some time?", bruise asked also on his brothers behalf.

~Momoko's P.O.V~

My eyes slowly fluttered open. The fluorescent lights shinned down into my eyes making me close my eyes again. What happened? Where am I? My muscles are so sore. I opened my eyes as I started to sit up. I noticed i was in a hospital bed at the lab. Thats when I remembered every thing. the fight with the punks... Brick being killed, then me giving up my powers to save brick. I quickly kicked off my blanket and hopped off the bed. I quickly took the iv out of my arm and ran over to the door and pulled it open. i ran out into the main area to see all of my friends except brick. "Momo!", miyako said as she seen me. A smile spread across her face as she stared at me. "I'm glad to see that your okay", boomer said as he smiled lightly at me. "Brick? Where's brick?", I asked. Kaoru pointed over to a door. "Did he... He made it right?", I asked. "Why don't you go see for yourself", kaoru said. With out saying another word I turned and ran to the door kaoru had pointed to. I quickly opened the door and stepped into the dark room. All the lights was off so I couldn't see anything. the only light that shinned in was from the door I had just opened. "I thought I told you guys to leave me alone", bricks voice said slightly annoyed. My heart jumped for joy as I heard his voice. I quickly flipped on the light and seen brick. "Momoko!", brick said as his eyes went wide and a smile spread across his face. Brick was Laying back in his hospital bed. He had the blanket covering his waist. He didn't have on his shirt but he did have some bandages wrapped around his ribs. I quickly ran over to him as he sat up. I hugged him lightly so I wouldn't hurt him but he squeezed me tight. "Brick I'm so glad your okay!", I said as I began to cry. Brick pulled away from the hug and wiped a tear off my cheek. Brick leaned forward giving me a soft kiss on the lips. "How bad are you hurt?", I asked after we stopped kissing. "The professor said I fractured a few ribs but they will heal on there own. He said that they should heal in about 3-6 weeks. Maybe even sooner since he has been adding small doses of chemical z to my iv drip thingy", brick said. "I'm just so glad your okay", I said as I brushed Brick's hair away from his eyes. "I'm glad your okay to", brick said. "Do you even remember what happened?", I asked. "I remember pushing you out of the way. I got hit with the concrete. I remember telling you I love you but that's it", brick said, "the professor said you was the one who saved me". "I did", I said as I smiled softly at him. "He told me... you gave up your powers to save me.. He also said that neither of us could transform into a puff or a ruff any more", brick said. "It was worth it", I said as I smiled at him again. "You gave up your dream for me... You love being a super hero.. It must of been a hard choice", brick said. "Well i did love being a super hero.. But I love you more so it was worth giving up to save you and also for the record.. It was the easiest choice I have ever made", I said as I grabbed brick's hand and held it in mine. Brick smiled softly at me. "Brick.. You gave up your life to save me. The least I could do was give up my powers to save you", I said. "You didn't only give up your powers....", brick said as he looked into my eyes with slight worry. "What?", I asked. "You gave up your identity", brick said. "Oh no your right I transformed back into my normal self in front of the citizens", I said. "It's been all over the news. They know both of our real identities", brick said. "You know what? I don't care.. They can know my identity. As long as your alive and okay is what matters the most to me", I said. Brick smiled softly at me again. "Is kaoru mad that they know our identities?", I asked. "Nope.. I was actually hoping she would be though", brick said. "Why? So she could yell at you?", I asked. "Yes! Normally she yells and storms off with butch... They haven't left me alone all day!", brick said. I giggled at brick. "I love my brothers and our friends but damn a guy just needs to sleep some times", brick said as he chuckled. "Aw they are just glad your okay", I said. "I know but they were just getting kind of annoying so I actually had to tell them to leave me alone so I could sleep", brick said. "What were they doing?", I asked. "They kept trying to feed me food and fluff my pillows.. Hell butch even offered me a foot rub!", brick said. "Really?", I asked as I laughed. Brick nodded his head. "Don't get me wrong I did appreciate that they was trying to be helpful but I just wanted some rest", brick said. "You know when you.. Died in the park.. Your brothers were actually crying..", I said. "Butch cried!?", brick asked. "Yeah.. I know its normal for people to cry when there brother dies but still i Never in my life would of ever thought I'd see him cry", I said. "Do you think the punks will leave us alone now?", brick asked. "I hope so", I said. "Me to", brick said as he yawned. "I should go.. So you can get some rest", I said. "No wait! Don't leave me", brick said. "But your tired", I said. "Lay with me?", brick asked. "Alright I'll go turn out the light", I said as I let go of brick's hand. "No need. The professor gave me a remote to turn them on and off", brick said. "Oh fancy", I said as I smiled. Brick scooted over so I could have a spot to lay down. "Are you sure I won't accidentally hurt you by laying up here with you?", I asked. "It will be okay.. Your like my pain reliever.. When I'm around you I'm happy and happiness is the best medicine", brick said. "I thought laughter was the best medicine?", I asked. "Oh jeez just get in the bed and cuddle with me!", brick said as he laughed. I slowly and easily climbed into the bed with brick. I made sure I was easy so I didn't hurt him. Brick and I both laid back and pulled the blanket up to our shoulders. Brick put one of his arms around me pulling me close to him. I reached over to the stand where the remote was. I pressed the button and the lights went off. I snuggled up closer to brick and smiled at the fact that his arm was around me. "I never thought I'd feel this again", I said as I closed my eyes. "Me either", brick said. I let a happy sigh escape from my lips as I smiled. "Thank you for saving me.. i love you momo", brick said softly. "I love you to bricky", I said softly as I leaned up giving brick a kiss on his cheek.

The sound of a door opening woke me up. Started to open my eyes but the bright lights turned on so I closed my eyes. I opened them again and kept blinking until I could gain focus. I looked over to see kaoru and butch in the door way. "Hey you guys awake?", butch asked. "We are now", brick said sleepily. "Momoko you have visitors..", kaoru said. "Visitors?", I asked. Kaoru and butch stepped back out of the doorway letting the visitors walk in. I gasped in shock as I seem them. My face turned red as I blushed now embarrassed that they seen me Laying in bed with brick. "Mom, Dad what are you guys doing here?", I asked as I slowly sat up. I swung my legs off the bed and hopped down. "We wanted to come see you and make sure you was alright", mom said as she practically ran to me giving me a hug. I hugged her back. Dad had also walked over to me and hugged me after mom was done hugging me. "Hello mr. And mrs. Akatsutsumi", brick said politely as he slowly sat up. "Oh brick. Come here sweetheart", mom said as she stretched out her arms. Mom stepped forward and hugged brick. "Thank you so much. We are forever great full that you saved our daughter", mom said as she pulled away. "Your welcome", brick said as he smiled at my mom. "Brick, when momoko first told me she had a boyfriend I was not to thrilled about it. I was angry and I was preparing myself to hate you because I knew no guy would be good enough to have my little girl. But the way she talked about you.. I knew she really liked you. So I was willing to meet you for Momoko's sake. I wanted to make sure that you would be up to all my expectations. Then I met you and I liked you. I wasn't sure if you met all of my expectations yet though. Then after momoko left home to go live with you I didn't like you as much. But after I seen what you did on the news. I knew you wasn't just good enough for my daughter. You are the best guy my daughter could ever have. You have surpassed my expectation list. And I consider you family now. I am forever great full that you chose to save my daughters life even if that meant the end of yours. I see now how much you care and love her that I look forward to having you as my son in law one day. Thank you so much for saving my daughter", dad said. I was in shock at what my dad had said. I've never heard him say some thing so emotional before. "Sir, when momoko told me she wanted me to meet her family I was nervous.. I was afraid that you wouldn't like me or think i was a bad influence on your daughter. All I ever wanted from you was to be excepted and now hearing you say that I am am over joyed", brick said as he smiled at my dad. "As for you missy.. We need to have a talk", dad said as he pointed at me. "Huh? What did I do?", I asked. "Why didn't you ever tell us about you being a powerpuff girl?", dad said. "It was for your safety", I said. "How long have you been a puff?", mom asked. "Since I was thirteen", I said. "You was a power puff for five years?", dad asked. "Yep", I said. "How was you able to hide it from us?", mom asked. "Well it wasn't easy but I managed to keep it a secret. Me being a power puff was actually what made me move out", I said. "The beeping... It wasn't your phone was it?", mom asked. "Nope it was my belt telling me I needed to transform and go save the city", I said. "I tried to stop you..", mom said. "That's why I told you I was moving out.. I really didn't mean to tell you that way but it just sort of slipped", I said. "It's alright.. What's done is done", dad said. "Mom? Dad?", a voice asked. I looked over at the door way and kuriko was standing there. "Kuriko?", mom said as she looked at kuriko. "What are you doing here?", kuriko asked. "What are you doing here?", dad asked. "Uhh well--", kuriko started to say as she looked at me for help. I could tell she wasn't ready for mom and dad to know about ken yet. "She came up here to visit me.. I talked to her earlier but I wanted to make sure brick was okay so I came in here and ended up taking a nap.. I figured she left but she was probably just hanging out with my friends", I said as I looked over at kuriko. Kuriko mouthed the word thank you to me. Kuriko walked over and stood next to my parents. They bought the lie I had told them. They stayed and talked to brick and I for at least a half hour but the professor walked into the room saying he needed to redo brick's bandages. "I will give you a few minutes", professor said as he walked back out of the room. "We should go then", dad said. Dad pulled me into another hug. When he let me go mom gave me a hug. "Bye sweetheart", mom said as she let me go. "Good bye mom, dad", I said as I smiled at them. Mom and dad waved at brick and I as they walked out of the room. "Bye momoko... Don't forget about our rematch!", kuriko said as she walked out of the room. I chuckled as I rolled eyes at her. I sat down on the chair next to Brick's bed. "Well it's safe to say that your dad likes me", brick said as he smiled. " Im glad he does", I said. "So apparently I'm not just boyfriend material but I'm son in law material now", brick said as he smiled. "I was actually super surprised to hear him say that. When kuriko and I was younger, I used to tell her about my dream wedding every day. It used to bug my dad. He would tell me to stop talking about it because he didn't want to think about me being married or him having a son in law. He even told me I wasn't aloud to get married till I was 70", I said as I smiled at the old memory. "Well I think you should get married before 70.. You okay with breaking that rule?", brick asked as he smiled. "Are you kidding? Of course I'm okay with it. I was told I wasn't aloud to move out till I was 80 and I already broke that rule", I said as I reached my hand forward and held brick's hand. "Guys!", kaoru said as she and the others walked into the room. "Huh?", brick asked as he looked at kaoru. "How did it go?! Are your parents pissed that you are... Was a powerpuff?", kaoru asked me. "No there not mad", I said. "Was they mad that you was in bed with brick?", butch asked as he smirked. "No.. Thanks for the warning by the way", I said sarcastically. "Hey at least you was dressed", butch joked as he laughed. "You could of at least told me to get out of bed", I said. "There's no fun in that", butch said. I smiled as I rolled my eyes at him. "We haven't gotten a chance to talk to you since you woke up a few hours ago.. How are you feeling?", miyako asked. "I'm fine just a little sore", I said. "Momoko.. Thank you for saving my brother", boomer said softly as he looked at me with thankful eyes. "It was my pleasure. I would of traded places with him if I could of", I said as I smiled lightly at boomer. "So does it feel any different now being a normal?", kaoru asked. "I feel less powerful now but that's about it", I said. "I'm not saying I'm not glad you did it but how the hell did you even think about trying to us your chemical z power to bring brick back?", kaoru asked as the professor walked into the room. "Well it started off with me remembering the memories we shared together and then suddenly I remember the time we were weak and peach gave up some of his power to give us more energy. So with every fiber in my body I hoped it would work and it did", I said. "You know what I don't get though?", kaoru said. "What?", butch asked. "Peach could do that for us because we was all connected from being hit with white z rays. Brick wasn't connected to you... So how could you transfer your power to him?", kaoru said. "I have no idea", I said as I shrugged. "Ohh I know! There love was so strong that it connected them!", miyako said as she smiled. "This isn't a movie miyako.. Stuff like that can't happen", kaoru said. "I can explain it", professor said. "I was right, right?", miyako asked. "No. I'm sorry. It was from when we gave you the new powers and I added the mind reading. You all are connected from it.", professor said. "So if you would of never given us those powers. Momoko wouldn't of been able to trade her powers for brick's life?", boomer asked. "Brick would have died", professor said. "Boy, I sure am glad you have us those powers", I said. "Who knew it would of saved a life", brick said with amazement in his voice. "You was very lucky", professor said. "So if brick is okay now and only has fractured ribs. Why did he die?", I asked. "Well he was hit with a lot of force. He was in allot of pain and his body couldn't take it. When you brought him back your chemical z helped heal some of his pain to make it bearable", professor said. "So after his ribs heal he will be back to normal again right?", I asked. "He should be.. And speaking of his ribs. I need to rewrap them", professor said. "And this is where I leave", miyako said as she quickly walked out of the room. "What was that about?", I asked. "Brick has some really bad bruising and a few stitches", boomer said. "You should probably go... It's pretty bad", brick said. "I want to be here with you..", I said. "Alright suit yourself. But it's gonna be in your nightmares", brick said. "Are you ready brick?", professor asked as he picked up a pair of medical scissors. "Yeah", brick said. Professor walked over to the other side of the bed. Professor slid one of the blades on the scissors under the bandage and slowly started cutting. Once that strip was cut we slowly started to unravel the bandages. Once a few layers of the bandages was gone I could see part of his bruise. It didn't look that bad at first until the professor took off the bandage wrap. I gasped as I seen Brick's bruise. All around his rib cage was black and blue. The bruises was huge. It looked like brick had been punched by a giant. Brick had a few stitches in different places but the bruise looked like it hurt the worst. "Oh brick", I said in shock. "We warned you", brick said. The professor started to rewrap brick's bandages. Brick winced at the pain. Brick closed his eyes tight and clenched his teeth together and scrunched his nose in pain. "Ah", brick groaned as he squeezed my hand tight. I seriously thought he was going to break my hand there for a second. I bit my bottom lip trying not to make a noise so brick wouldn't know he was hurting my hand. but after a few seconds he eased up on my hand. Once the professor was done with the bandages brick laid back down. "I need an aspirin or some kind of pain killer", brick said as he let go of my hand. "I have some already here for you", professor said as he handed brick a tiny paper cup with two pills and an open water bottle. Brick quickly put the pills in his mouth and took a drink of water to wash down the pills. "We should go and let brick get some rest", professor said as he gathered up his things then left the room. "Want me to stay again?", I asked. "No you should probably go eat some thing. Your probably hungry by now. That clock over there says its almost 8 pm and you've been with me ever since you woke up so you haven't eaten at all", brick said. Now that brick mentioned it I was pretty hungry. I guess I didn't notice it because I was to worried about him. "Alright. Do you need and thing before I go?", I asked. "How about a kiss?", brick as as he smiled at me. "I can do that", I said as I smiled. I stood up and leaned down to Brick's face giving his a short soft kiss on the lips. As I pulled away brick smiled at me. "Good night bricky", I said. "Night momo", brick said as he closed his eyes. I smiled down at him as i user my hand to brush his hair away from his eyes. Kaoru, butch, boomer and I quickly left the room closing the door behind us. I felt sad that I couldn't do any thing to help brick with his pain. Those bruises looked horrible. I don't know how he can stand the pain. "Hey don't look so sad", butch said. I looked up at butch who was staring down at me. "I just wish I could take his pain away", I said. "I know how you can help him", butch said. "Really? How?", I asked. "Go buy a sexy nurses outfit and play doctor with him", butch said as he smirked. "Butch!", I said seriously. Kaoru and boomer both laughed. "What?! You could give him a sponge bath! I bet he would like that!", butch said. "I swear only you could joke at a time like this", I said as I chuckled and elbowed butch lightly in the arm. "Yep that's what I'm here for", butch said as he smiled.
