You couldn't stop history from repeating itself... You couldn't do anything.
"You think these gloves make you special?"
Your eyes snapped open, moving over to the other side of the room and watching as your mother ripped the rainbow gloves you had come to find so much comfort in.
"They're trash..." She smiled. "Just like you."
"You really didn't have to do this for me." You smiled, holding the multicolored gloves close to your chest as you smiled at your boyfriend.
Namjoon shook his head, helping you adjust the fingers of the fabric.
"I know that." He hummed. "I did it because I wanted to."
You pecked his cheek, wiggling your fingers experimentally.
"I'll treasure them forever."
Namjoon frowned slightly, taking your hands in his.
"I'm glad you like the gloves." He breathed. "But, I want you to understand...At the end of the day...these gloves are just pieces of yarn."
You tilted your head.
"Yeah...I know."
"I'm saying this because I want you to know something." He paused. "You don't need these to be strong...You don't need these gloves to move past what your mother did to you...I gave these to you so you would know...that, one day, when these gloves are lost or accidentally burned because of my terrible cooking skills..You will still be as strong as you are when you wear them...And even if you don't think you're strong...You'll still be the woman I fell in love with...You'll still be the woman who slapped a stranger who tried sleeping with her, you'll still be the woman who survived something traumatic, and you'll still be the woman who is capable of not allowing her past to define her."
You smiled softly to yourself, allowing his words to sink in.
"And you're sure that you'll be alright?" You whispered. "Loving someone as broken as me?"
His hands tightened around yours slightly.
"Way before we knew what this was all about.." He started. "I chose you and you chose me...Yes, we had our other lives and we chose those, too. Every person...every struggle..every heartache mistake was meant to happen..So it could lead me to you and you to me."
You stared at him in awe, remaining silent as he placed a kiss to your forehead.
"Throw it away.." He said. "Forget yesterday and we'll make a great escape."
Your eyes widened slightly at that memory, tears slowly beginning to dry on your cheeks as Namjoon's dimpled smile came into your mind.
Even if you couldn't find the strength to save yourself...you'd stop at nothing to save the people you cared about.
He was right.
The gloves that once served as a symbol for peace and comfort only served as a box in which you could throw your past and never confront it....
Now, the gloves were gone...and you had never felt stronger.
The past that had scarred your entire life was now playing out...
And this time, you'd be sure to do something about it.
A loud scream left your throat as you finally found the strength to move, arms raising and shoving the man off of you.
You sat up, only to be pulled down, once again by an invisible force.
You grunted in anger and frustration, sharp pain shooting through your body as the man stood from the floor, trying to climb back on top of your body.
You tried raising your right arm, trying to force distance.
Your arm shakily rose into the air, the force straining to keep it on the mattress.
That's when you noticed it.
The slight gleam of light that shone on your arm.
There was no "invisible force".
Only threads.
Threads were wrapped around your arms and legs, pulling you back down into the mattress and keeping you from moving.
Your chest heaved as you tried raising your left hand, struggling against the strength of the thin string as you reach for the threads that held your right arm down.
A yell of anger escaped you as your left hand gripped the strings, using all of your strength to pull them off of you.
The threads that you thought held so much strength snapped as soon as you touched them, freeing your right arm.
You didn't hesitate once your arm was free.
Curling your hand into a fist, you put all of your strength into one, swift punch, delivering it smack dab in the middle of the monster's jaw.
He fell onto the floor, remaining limp.
You only watched as he slowly began to dissolve into nothing more than sand.
Of course...this was only one of Jimin's tricks.
You pulled the rest of the threads off of your body, pushing yourself off of the bed and walking towards your mother.
She only smirked as you approached her, hands shaky.
"What will you do?" She snapped. "Kill me? I suppose you should...What else would you do?"
You stopped, body only a few feet from hers.
"I won't kill you." You huffed breathlessly.
She tilted her head.
"Oh?" She called. "Are you too much of a coward to do it? I should have expected this. You're too scared to face me...Just like you've always been. You'll never be able to get over it-"
"No." You interrupted.
"No?"
You let out a chuckle.
"I'm not going to kill you..." You paused. "Because I don't care enough."
She froze in her place.
"W-What?"
You laughed.
"I don't care anymore." You deadpanned. "I don't care what happens to you. Go and overdose or better yet, go and make a better life for yourself...I don't care."
"D-Did you forget what I did to you!?" She screamed. "Did you forget the torture I put you through?!"
"I tried to." You answered. "But, I've decided to accept it...and move past it..I've met someone who makes everything you did seem insignificant..."
Her body began trembling, face sinking in as she began to age extremely rapidly.
"N-No!" She yelled. "It can't work like that! It will never work like that!"
You leaned closer to her, your eyes never once leaving hers.
"You are nothing."
A/N,
Wow. This was seriously intense.
The ending is nigh, my children.
Hold on for a bit longer, alright?
This chapter held quite a lot of symbolism for Y/n's character. Comment the ideas you think I was trying to portray. :)
I love you guys so much! Keep safe in these times and eat lots of healthy and delicious food, alright?
This was heavily unedited, sorry for any mistakes.
Bye Bye!
