"Ma'am? Miss? You do not have permission to go in there," he tells us, stepping in front of the door.
"We're here to see our friend," I explain.
The door person raises his eyebrow at me. "What are your names?" he inquires.
"I'm Rayne," I say.
"And I'm Morgan," my best friend informs him.
"Ah, my apologies. I was told to tell you that your friend will be waiting in the lobby," the doorman replies before opening the door for us. "Have a lovely day."
"Thank you," Morgan utters.
"Have a marvellous day," I add.
We hurry through the door, not entirely certain where we're supposed to go. We barely take three steps into building when I crash into someone and fall to the ground.
Just my luck... "Sorry," I mutter as I get to my feet. I offer my hand to the girl on the ground and proceed to help her up. I notice that she has straight brown hair and her sense of fashion is similar to my own.
"Oh, nonsense. I should've been paying more attention to where I was going," she says with a laugh.
"Well that makes two of us," I quip.
"Apparently. Anyways, it's been nice meeting you and your friend."
"Oh! Sorry about that. I'm Rayne and this is Morgan," I introduce myself and my friend. "And you are…?"
"I'm Abby," she states.
"Well, Abby, we are supposed to be meeting a friend, so we'd better get going," Morgan speaks up.
"Ah, well I was about to go out for a bit, but perhaps we'll run into each other again later!"
"Hopefully you mean that in a figurative sense," I tease, laughing at my own joke. After this, we exchange our farewells and head our separate ways.
"Is it just me or was she freakishly familiar?" Morgan asks the moment the other girl is out of earshot.
I ponder my friend's question for a few seconds before shrugging. "I dunno, maybe? Her name sounds kinda familiar."
"I think it's short for Abigail," my best friend suggests.
"Oh, that makes more sense; I believe that was one of the names my parents were considering for me," I wonder aloud.
"My parents were considering the name 'Ben' for me if I was a boy," Morgan states.
"That's my dad's name."
"What's your dad's name?" another voice asks.
Morgan and I both spin around to face the speaker. "Ben. Benjamin," I repeat for the blonde boy to hear.
"Ah, I see," he murmurs from where he is sitting on a leather couch. "Anything else I should know?"
"Hmm," I pretend to think about it. "You should know that it's creepy to eavesdrop."
"And it's rude to interrupt conversations," Morgan joins in.
"And it's rude to mock the person who invited you over," Niall retorts. "Especially when that person has the ability to decide whether or not you ever meet the other members of their band."
"Meh, I never intended to meet any members of One Direction. It kind of ruins the whole façade about how nice and awesome they are knowing that they're just as weird as me," I jest.
"Okay, we can stand here and banter back and forth all day, or we can head back to my flat," Niall grumbles.
I roll my eyes at the Irish lad. “You just can’t think of any way to rebut what I said because it’s true,” I comment with a smirk.
