“Oh, it was Niall. He called to see if we could go over there? I dunno, but it seemed important,” I reply.
“Go over where?”
“To One Direction’s apartment building,” I say with a giggle.
“Did he give you the address?” she inquires.
“No, but he should be texting it to me any min-oh!” I cut myself off mid-sentence as my phone vibrates. “He just sent it.”
“So should we call for a cab?”
I roll my eyes as Morgan pulls out her own phone and calls the cab. I return my attention to my cellphone so that I can reply to Niall’s text. Well that’s a weird thought. A month ago I was just a fangirl who had no hope of ever meeting the members of my favourite band and now I’m texting one of them about the fact that my best friend and I are going to hang out with him…
“We should probably wait in the lobby,” Morgan tells me.
I turn to face my friend and see that her hand is on the door handle. “Oh, yeah, I was just going to let Niall know that we’re on our way to his flat, but I can text him from the lobby or something,” I state, following Morgan as she walks into the hallway.
“Lemme guess, you’re also marvelling over the face that we not only met a member of One Direction, but have also hung out with more than one of them in the past few days?” my best friend asks, reading my mind.
“Well, it’s kind of a weird feeling. I mean, I know they live in London, but I also know that almost eight million other people live here. The odds of us meeting even just one member of One Direction were literally less than one in eight million. And the fact that we met that one member in a city almost five thousand miles away…”
“Rayne! I am on summer vacation. I do not want to hear you talking about math, no matter how much you like doing that,” Morgan interrupts my thought process.
“It’s not my fault I take those classes for fun,” I grumble.
“Can we just go now? Our cab is here.”
I roll my eyes again and walk out into the evening air. I slide into the cab and then give the driver the address before turning back to my friend. “Fine. I suppose I should just be happy that we unintentionally beat those odds,” I concede.
“Thank you,” Morgan accepts in a somewhat sarcastic tone. “By the way, did you remember to tell him that we’re on our way?”
I smack my forehead, but then realize that I still have time during our cab ride. ‘Hey! We’re on our way :). I have a question though…’ I send my text and lean my face against the window.
I jolt up again when my phone vibrates a few moments later. ‘K I will tell the doorperson to be waiting for you. Ask away :)’
‘We’ve only met you once, so why are you inviting us over?’ My thumbs run rapidly across the keypad of my phone as I type my response.
‘I’ll explain when you get here, I promise.’
I raise an eyebrow before I realize that Niall can’t see my face. Blushing, I quickly text back by saying, ‘Koi. We’re almost there.’
“So, what did he say?” Morgan asks when she sees that I’ve put my phone away.
"He said that he's gonna warn the door person about our arrival. Oh, and I asked why he invited us over, which he said he would explain once we get there," I inform her.
"Well, we're here," she says, laughing at the seemingly perfect timing.
I pay the taxi driver and then step out of the vehicle, following Morgan to the doors of the building. We get to those doors, but are stopped by a man in a uniform.
