Between Mom And Me

Been a few days
Since I last saw your smile
Feels like it's been years since
Feels like it's a trial

I miss the merriness
The little senseless conversations
Everytime I did something dumb
You'd say, "Congratulations."

Whatever I was acting as
You'd go along with
You were my angel
A mysterious toolkit

Always knew, you did
How to make everything better
Your name means, "special,"
B for best, is the last letter

I was a lout, I know
I would change that in a heartbeat
All you had to do was order me
But with a little less heat

I miss your laugh
The genuine one
With your teeth showing bright
But not yellow, like the sun

I don't know if you care
About how much I love you
But I'll still say it
Until you believe it's true

Hope I can hug you soon
And say, "everything is fine,"
And truly mean it
Unlike during these times

The light of my eyes
Shimmering away like this
Makes my vision
Like one through mist

You won't believe me, but
I'd give you my chocolates
And spend my time with you
Even if just to watch silly chick-flicks

I hope you'll be there
The day I can say that I made it
How can I be anything, after all
Without your wits

Wouldn't mind if you
Shared a toothbrush with me
Though you would never
It's highly unsanitary

Your image in my mind
Keeps me awake
Things seem wrong
A feeling I can't shake

But we'll be happy again
One day, and it will be soon
I pray as much as I can
Evening and afternoon

You'll joke around with me again
And I'll silently thank God
Because I've learnt from you
How to be stiff like an iron rod

You've kept my back straight
Through thick and thin
And now you're shunning me away
No longer applying that tint

I would put on make up
If that'd make you happy
Just don't look at me again
As if I'm a full nappy

I can't, but I would
Give you everything
Because you're my hero
About whom I could even sing

Praise for you
Pretty, smart and what not
If you don't see it, I'll tell you
Without you, I rot

So just give me a smile
Tell me we're alright
I'd do all you ask of me
Through day and night

Because I love you
Despite whatever happens
I'll think positive
Move all of my limbs

I'll do whatever I can
To keep you out of harm's way
Or hit it in the face
If it tries to play

Ending this now, because
Could go on forever without stopping
But you wouldn't read it at all
Wouldn't want this flopping
