It's been a month since I met Tarin. We are pretty close I guess. It was one day we came out of the water ( after our swim), I wrapped up in a towel and sat in the sand. "Merman. Wow." I said, still not getting used to the fact my friend was a merman. "Do you ever wish you didn't have powers? I mean your Siren thing?" Tarin asked, opening a bottle of iced tea. "Yeah. A lot. Why? Would you give up being a merman?" I asked. He tipped the can of Arizona Iced Tea toward me. I took it and took a sip of its icy contents. "Maybe. If I had something worth giving it up for." He said, his eyes focused on the horizon. "I mean, it's fun being a merman. I like having powers." He said. "Oh." He turned to face me. He took the can out of my hand and set it down in the warm sand. "What would you do if I told you that you could get rid of your power?" Tarin asked. "Um, I guess that'd be cool," I answered. His smile spread across his dotted (with freckles) face. "Royal, the adventure awaits."
