It was every Monday that they went to the nursing home to play bingo to help Niall with his numbers. Niall was slowly but surely getting the hang of them, able to count up to one hundred (though sometimes he forgot the word 'hundred'. Zayn always assured him that he'd get it next time). The duo often got nasty glares when they were out and about on dates, having Zayn make Niall read menus or practice counting, but Zayn tried to ignore them and Niall never noticed them.
"N39," the woman called from behind her table.
"What makes up that number?" Zayn asked, ruffling Niall's hair slightly. The blonde leaned his head against Zayn's shoulder as he looked down at the card.
"Right here!" Niall grinned, pointing to the 39 on his card. "A three and nine!"
"Very, very good," Zayn breathed, kissing the blue eyed boy's cheek. "You're doing so well, baby. I'm so proud of you." Niall beamed as he covered the number called, his eyes meeting Zayn's. The elder brushed his lips against Niall's quickly, looking around to see if anyone had seen them. It wasn't that he was ashamed to kiss Niall in public, he just knew that some of the older people in the nursing home didn't like gays and would throw a fit if they had touched lips.
"I26."
"It's two and six," Niall answered quickly, looking up at his boyfriend to make sure he was right. Zayn nodded and Niall placed another chip on the card as Zayn gave his temple a rewarding kiss. "Look, Zayn, I've almost got a bingo already!"
Zayn laughed at Niall's barely covered card, pulling the blonde in for a hug. "You're right, babe. You only need four more." Niall squealed and placed his cheek on Zayn's chest, watching as the caller turned the bingo ball around so more of the colorful balls with numbers on them fell out.
"B6."
"I don't have that one," Niall pouted, looking down at the card, as if willing it to suddenly appear. Zayn smiled lovingly at his boyfriend, putting an arm around Niall's waist.
"You're not going to have all of them, Ni," Zayn chuckled, kissing Niall's head anyway. The blonde leaned closer to Zayn, so that their thighs were touching. "Mm, when you get a bingo, you call it out nice and loud, okay?"
Niall giggled as Zayn nuzzled his nose in the soft hair on Niall's head. "Okay, Zaynie," Niall responded, picking up another chip from the table.
"I16."
"Can you show me which one is 16?" Zayn asked, picking Niall up gently and moving him to his lap. Niall didn't complain as Zayn put his arms around his body, leaning his chin on Niall's shoulder.
"This one," Niall pointed to the 20.
"No, that's not the right one. That's 20. We're looking for 16. Can you try again?"
"This one."
"No, sweetheart, that's 18."
"This one?"
"No, baby," Zayn frowned, moving Niall's pale finger until it rested on the 16. "This is 16, okay?" Niall nodded his head, a matching frown on his face. "Hey, it's alright. You'll get it next time." Niall leaned his head against Zayn's shoulder, a yawn escaping his lips.
"O73," the woman called, spinning the ball again.
"Seven and three?" Niall asked, pointing to it on his card. Zayn nodded and handed Niall another chip, which the boy eagerly placed it over the correct number. Zayn kissed his cheek, patting the boy's tigh gently. "I love you, Zayn."
