We got to the airport in a half hour. I wish I could have just stayed home with mom and Cope. It probably would have more fun. I hadn't been to Florida before and I had never really wanted to go. We went through security and waited to board the plane. I wish Kellin was my real dad. He was so cool and he loved me more than my real dad did. I barely saw my real dad. I saw Kellin more than I saw my dad. And I really hated my dad's new girlfriend. Her name was Lucy. She didn't want us around and it showed. I glanced over at her. Her eyes were trained on her phone and her thumb moved too fast to keep track of.
"Can I borrow your phone, Dad?" I asked, suddenly wanting to text Kellin.
He looked up from it and shook his head. "I'm using it, Liam," he said, "Why do you want to use it?"
I sighed. "I want to play a game. I'm bored," I lied. Well, the bored part was true, but I had no desire to play a game. I knew if I told Dad why I really wanted to use his phone, I would hurt his feelings. He might not want us around, but I didn't have to stoop to his level.
"Well, play something with you brother," he told me with a huff. I sighed again and look at Rowan. Thankfully they announced they would start boarding our plane.
"Got everything?" Dad asked. Rowan and I nodded and he handed us our boarding passes.
Once on the plane, we found our seats. Dad, Rowan, and I were sitting in one row and Lucy was sitting across from us. I was glad I didn't have to sit next to her for three hours. The plane ride seemed to go on forever. We finally landed and got off the plane. We went to go get our luggage. We finally got to our hotel an hour later.
Rowan flopped on the bed claiming it ours. Lucy sat on the other bed staring at her phone as usual.
"Can I borrow you phone now, Dad?" I asked hopefully.
"Yeah, sure," Dad said handing it over. I felt a smile form on my face.
"I pulled up the iMessage and put in Kellin's number, which I had memorized a while ago.
Me: Hi Kellin. It's Liam.
A few moments later, Kellin texted back, making me very happy.
Kellin: Hey buddy. How Florida?
Me: Ok. We haven't done anything yet
Kellin: Wat r u guys gonna do?
Me: Disney. Idk what else
Kellin: Sounds like fun. How's Rowan?
Me: Good
Kellin: How's ur dad?
Me: He seems fine
Kellin: Did Lucy go?
Me: Yes. I don't like her
Kellin: Y not?
Me: She doesn't want me and Rowan around
Kellin: I'm sure that's not tru
Me: It is. She hasn't said 1 word 2 us the whole day
Kellin: Y don't u try to get to no her Mayb u should make the effort
Me: Mayb I'll try 2 talk to her @ Disney. Who isn't happy @ Disney?
Kellin: Lol. That's the spirt. G2g. Txt me wen u can
Me: Ok bye
Kellin: Bye
I handed the phone back to my dad and sighed.
"What were you doing?" Dad asked curiously. I'm sure he was just wondering why I took his phone away from him.
"Nothing," I lied. I knew he wouldn't like me texting Kellin.
"You were obviously doing something," Lucy interjected. I was about to give her the evil glare but remembered what Kellin had said.
"Well, I was doing something, but nothing interesting," I explained.
"Well, we don't care if it wasn't interesting. What were you doing?" Lucy asked. The one time she tries to talk to me, she ends up being annoying.
"Texting," I told her.
"Who?" Dad asked.
Rowan's look told me I should just tell them I was texting Kellin, but if I did, what if Dad wouldn't let me borrow his phone again?
"Mom," I lied. Rowan sighed. He knew I was texting Kellin and not Mom.
"Oh, ok," Dad said, "What did she say?"
"She said hi and asked me how we were and how Florida is," I replied. It wasn't a total lie. That's what Kellin said.
"Ok," Dad said, seeming satisfied.
"What are we gonna do tomorrow?" Rowan asked excitedly.
"We're gonna go to Magic Kingdom," Dad answered.
"Cool," Rowan exclaimed. I was bald he was happy because I sure wasn't.
