the sea in me

the earth gives and gives and gives
we are blessed with her motherly kiss
but i have a confession i must tell
i love Her, but i tire of this provincial realm

there's something about the less-wandered deep
millenia-year old secrets it's had to keep
a whole new dimension, untouched by even the sun
where wars might've ravaged unknown to us

so begins the tragic tale of the ocean and earth's daughter
for i long for the cerulean and black of the infinite waters
breathe the sultry, salty breezes and taste its brine
drink the sun's rays like it's fine wine

delve deep and deeper into its depths
where no mortal man's eyesight has ever crept
bask in the strange bioluminescence of this world
this is the magic i've been looking for

i asked Mother Earth to let me dive down
but she jealously said, not as long as i'm around
and so i knew i belonged to the sea
but the sea did not belong to me

so i'll stay here in the shoreside cliffs
letting your gales of wind peck my lips
taking in this serene mediterranean scenery
until i melt into you, gradually, leisurely
until i belong to you and you belong to me

i live so i loveWhere stories live. Discover now
