countless polaroids stuffed under my bed
text messages i've snapshotted and repeatedly read
poems written on the back of paper scraps
the shade under the tender tree where we once sat
an infallible sun rises and falls over the railroad
flowers pushing through the concrete cracks, our future foretold
the warm taste of cotton candy clouds and mellow golden skies
can't get rid of this mango and tajin taste even if i tried
a long track embedded with bittersweet unfurls before my eyes
leaving a bit more of a fool and a bit more wise
the tears that cascaded and the laughs that left me breathless
music that made blood pump, memories leaving me weightless
people i fell in love with and made my life a dream to live
after that wild rollercoaster, is there anything left to give?
romantic, rosy, seeing the world through honey and petals
teenagehood has been by far the best of life's medals

the warmest hug to my teenage years — you fought, loved, and grew so much. i'll miss you.
