Lucas kept his head down as he walked down the street, he was annoyed.

Alazaé never seemed to take a hint, how hard headed could this girl be.

At this point he didn't even want to go to homecoming anymore. He might've been overreacting but he couldn't help the fact that he was pissed.

He kept his hands in his pockets until he reached the front door of his house. Before he could turn the keys to unlock the door he heard yelling.

He was already in a bad mood and didn't want to deal with his fathers crap at the moment.

He decided to pass the time somewhere else, he didn't want another confrontation with his father. Especially after what happened last time. The man he called his father could never keep a promise so Lucas definitely didn't expect him to stay sober.

Lucas took the keys out of the lock and walked to his car. Beeping his car open, he sat in the drivers seat trying to decided what to do.

Lucas pulled out his phone and dialed a number, if he was going to spend the night outside he definitely wasn't going to do it sober.

Alazae sighed as she walked into the house, closing the door behind her, she turned around to face her mom watching a episode of chopped on the television.

"Mom why are you up so late" she said confused

"I was waiting for you to come in, you spent more time than I thought you would" her mother said lowering the volume of the tv

"Well come here, why do you look so sad ? What happened ?" Her mom questioning

Alazae slipped off her heels leaving them by the door and went to take a seat next to her mom.

She dropped herself into the couch slouching as low as she could get

"What happened baby ? Why are you so upset" her mother persisted

"I think you were right about Lucas. I think he does like me" alazae said playing with her acrylic nails

"You just realizing that Zay...Girl I'm always right" her mom said scoffing

"Mom I'm not in the mood" alazae said sitting up

"Ok we'll explain to me what happened at the dance and how do you know Lucas likes you ?" Her mother said turning to face her

"Well I don't know for sure that he likes me. The dance was good, just another homecoming except that school goes the extra mile since they have so much funding." Alazae said fixing her dress

"Me and Jamaine left and he dropped me off here, before he pulled off we hugged and I left the car just to see Lucas waiting for me outside the door. And he was upset because I didn't come home at the time I said I would and because the boy I went to homecoming with is our football teams rival school" alazae continued

"Zay I'm pretty sure he likes you, and if he doesn't then he seems protective of you. He's probably mad because you're spending a lot of time with someone else. Try not to ignore Lucas and maybe he'll feel better" her mother said consoling her

"Ok mom, I'm tired so I'm gonna go to my room, goodnight" her mother replied good night and alazae got up and left.

Alazae smelt like fruit punch mixed with sweating deodorant and she was disgusted. She got undressed and got into the shower to clean herself off.

After she was done showering, she lathered herself with lotion and put on a sports bra and shorts to go to sleep.

While picking up the clothes she left on the floor before going to homecoming she heared a knock from the balcony door. She couldn't see what was knocking her door since the curtains were halfway closed.

She backed away from the door trying to get a safe look. She wasn't going to be a victim that night.

As she was backing away she saw Lucas on her balcony knocking the door with his head lowered.

When she realized it was him , she ran to the door to open it.

Right when she opened the door she practically screamed "Lucas what the hell are you doing !"

Lucas looked up at her, his eyes were red, she could tell he was drunk.

She grabbed his arm and pulled him inside

"How the heck did you even get up here, did your dumb ass climb the TREE ?!" Alazae berated him

Lucas nodded

" my parents are fighting and I don't wanna be alone Zae" Lucas said slurring his words

"Oh. I thought you were mad at me though...why would you want to be with me right now" alazae said feeling sympathy for her drunk best friend standing in front of her

"You're myyyy besT fRienD Zay I'll never stay MaD atttt you.." Lucas said continuing to slur his words

Zay just stood there staring at him, Lucas looked away from her and walked over to her bed sitting on it .

" is it ok if I sleepppp over her tonightt" Lucas said quietly

Alazae nodded. Lucas was in need of company and she sure as hell didn't want to turn him down no matter how much the previous confrontation at her front door made her felt.

Lucas took off his clothes only staying in a white undershirt and gym shorts.

Alazae walked over to her bed and sat beside him

"Lucas staying with your parents isn't good for you. Every time they argue it effects you and I don't like it" Zay said putting her hand on his shoulder

"What am I supposed to do Zay, I'm not old enough to move out without any legal problems" he replied alazae could see tears forming in his eyes. She'd never seen him cry before

"My dad promises he's gonna change and do better then he goes out gets drunken and high off his ass and he takes his anger out on my mother"  Lucas said looking at alazae

"Why do people make promises they can't kept" tears were now rolling down Lucas's cheeks

alazae felt as though she would too start crying any moment

She pulled Lucas closer to her rubbing his hair , comforting him as he cried into her shoulder and explained what had been happening inside his home.

As Lucas explained everything to her, she realized she didn't know him as well as she thought she did and should have shown him more attention.

"Thanks for being here Zay" Lucas said quietly

Alazae kisses his forehead and continued to touch his hair

Alazae looked down to see Lucas sleeping in her lap after she heard soft snores

"That headache gonna be a nightmare tomorrow morning baby boy" she said looking down at him.
