J.J'S POV

I woke up curled against Silas and had a smile upon my lips. I was crazy to think that leaving him would be the best thing for me. I wanted to spend the rest of my life loving the man I had woken up next to. I was lucky that he loved me so unconditionally that he wanted to be a part of my life, and be a father to Madelyn. I loved him too, more than anything. I had never really wanted to leave him, I just wanted to do what would make him happy.

“Good morning baby.” He smiled at me.

“Good morning sweetie. I'm starving, how about you?” I smirked back.

“I think we should go out for breakfast and shop for Maddy's birthday since we only have two days before she's in her terrible two's.” We got up and got dressed for the day and went to find Carla.

“J.J, we're having a memorial for Louise tonight honey, I thought you should know.” Carla hugged me. “Go get everything you need for Maddy's birthday and I will call my friends and try to get a party organized for her.” She grinned at me and then at Silas. “I am really glad you guys are working things out because I really would have missed you if you had left.”

“I would have missed you too. I need to call Gran's sister and let her know about the service. If she wants to come, we'll have to postpone until she can get here.” She agreed and I excused myself to call Mrs. Higgens.

“Hello?”

“Mrs. Higgens? It's Cecilia, did Holden tell you that I called yesterday?”

“Oh C.C, honey, I'm glad you called! Holden tells me that you're coming home.” She exclaimed.

“Actually, I'm not. I'm staying here in Maine with my mate and his family. That's part of the reason I called.” I said with excitement and sadness.

“Well honey, I hope your mate treats you well.”

“Oh, he's wonderful. I'm also calling you because we're having a funeral service for Louise and I'd like it if you and Holden can join us for that. Also, Madelyn's birthday is in two days, and I'd be overjoyed if you could join us to celebrate.”

“Oh C.C, I'd love to, I have to check flights and find someone to take care of the animals. Is this your number on the caller I.D?” She asked with happiness in her voice.

“Yes ma'am, it is mine.”

“I will call you back within the hour sweetheart. Thank you for calling.” We said our goodbyes and hung up the phone.

Silas and I went to a small diner for breakfast while I waited for Mrs. H to call me back. Silas frowned when I ordered wheat toast and fresh strawberries with a glass of water, but didn't try to order me anything else. As we were leaving the diner to go shopping, my cellphone rang.

“Hello?”

“C.C, it's Holden. My grandma said you called and that you're not moving home.” He sounded saddened by that.

“No, I'm going to stay here with my mate and his family.” I noticed Silas's eyes as he kept glancing at me from the drivers seat.

“You met your mate? That's wonderful. When did you meet him?”

“Um, about a month ago.” I mumbled.

“Well, if you met him about a month ago, why did you want to come back here and what made you change your mind since yesterday?” I knew Silas could hear everything that Holden was saying.

“It had just been a long week and we had a bit of a misunderstanding, but we talked it through and I know that I could never leave him.” I blushed as I said it and Silas gave me a weak smile.
