        SILAS'S POV

I leaned over my gorgeous mate and looked deep into her crystal blue eyes. My heart broke a little when I saw just how broken she was. All I wanted to do was protect her and care for her, and yet I hurt her by trying to give her the world. I was so confused. I leaned down and gently kissed her lips. She had been through so much and she was so young. I deepened our kiss and moved so that I was on my knees between her legs and had my hands on either side of her head.

“I love you.” I breathed out into her ear and I kissed a trail from her neck down her collarbone. I heard someone move in the trees so I looked up and saw a man walking closer to us. I tensed up and grabbed J.J's sweatshirt. “Put this on babe.”

I stood to my feet and faced the man who had an evil grin on his face. My eyes locked on his and they looked so familiar. As I got closer to him, I realized where I recognized his features from. Maddy looked just like the man in front of me.

“Is your dirty little mate as good as I remember?” He sneered at me.

I lunged at him and shifted mid leap. I knocked him to the ground and he shifted under me, gouging my chest in the process. He pushed me backwards and stood up on his paws. We were face to face, both growling at each other when J.J leapt onto him in her wolf form and bit into his ear. When he let out a howl and tilted his head back, I grabbed his throat with my teeth and ripped it open, causing blood to squirt all over. I let go and bit into the other side of his neck and cut that open too. He fell to the ground and shifted back into a lifeless human.

I shifted back and grabbed J.J's clothes. She shifted back and got dressed as I gathered my jeans and slid them over my legs. I handed J.J the car keys, and she scowled at me. I needed her to drive, and I didn't want to fight with her about it.

“Please baby, I need you to drive. I'm exhausted.”

“You're lucky I love you.” She murmured as she got into the car.

       J.J'S POV

I got into the driver seat and watched Silas as he got into the car. His chest had deep scratches on it and was covered with blood. I had tears rolling down my face as I turned to him. I didn't reach for him, and I couldn't hold back my tears.

“Silas.”

“Not now baby. Let's get home first before the other assholes from your father's pack come out after us.” He leaned against his seat and closed his eyes.

I slowly turned the car around and pulled onto the road. I cautiously drove toward Carla's house, watching every oncoming car, afraid that it would be someone watching us. As I pulled into the driveway, I heard his low whisper.

“Which one was that Jasmine? What was his name?”

“Darren.” I mumbled.

“You know he.. That Maddy is... Sonofabitch Jazz! Did you already know?” He sounded angry.

“I tried not to see the resemblance. I didn't want to think about which asshole put me in that situation. You are Maddy's dad Silas, no one else.” My tears started flowing again and I tried to wipe them from my eyes.

“I looked him right in the face J.J, she looks just like him and now I can't stop picturing that sick fuck on top of you.” He was talking through gritted teeth.

“Silas, please. It's not like I asked for any of them to touch me. It's not my fault, so please don't take this out on me.” My voice faltered and I reached my hand out to grab his, but he pulled away from me and opened the car door.

“No, it's not your fault, but I can't get it out of my head.” He got out and slammed the door. I watched him as he ran toward the garage and disappeared inside.
