Monday morning came way too quickly. My alarm went off and Silas reached out and hit the snooze button. I was laying with his arm around me and my head was on his shoulder. I saw him close his eyes again as he pulled me tighter to his body.

“Silas, get up. You have to go to work and I have school. I can't skip today, I have a history test.” I gently pushed away from him and sat up. He wrapped his arm around my waist and pulled me on top of him.

“Just stay in bed with me for a few more minutes.” He murmured against my lips as he pulled me into a kiss. Any thought of getting up went out the window as Silas licked my lips and deepened our kiss. His hand was softly running up and down my hack and I let out a soft moan into his mouth.

“Jasmine get up for school right now and Silas, you better not be trying to convince her otherwise!” I heard Gran yell up the stairs. Silas lowered his hand onto my butt and gave it a playful swat.

“Okay baby, get ready for school and I'll take you. Tonight, we can take out the Bronco.” I jumped off the bed and grabbed a pair of jeans and a blue sweater and ran to the bathroom. I stopped in the doorway when I heard Gran's voice coming from her bedroom.

“You can't shut off my electricity, I have my grandchildren living here... I don't know how the hell the check bounced, I'll have to call the bank and get it straightened out... Okay, I understand.” I hurried into the shower so Gran didn't know that I heart her. As I dried off and started getting dressed, I heard Gran again.

“I don't understand how my account is empty, aren't my husbands death benefit checks being deposited? Who could have messed that up? How am I supposed to feed my family if I have no money? I understand that this isn't your problem. Thank you.” My stomach dropped at the thought that we were broke. I tried to pretend that nothing was going on as I walked out of the bathroom and down the stairs.

“Good morning Jazz, would you like breakfast before you go?” Gran tried to smile but I could tell it was forced.

“No thanks Gran, I really need to get to school to study for my history test.” I kissed her cheek and walked out the door. I took a look at my Bronco and fought back my tears.

I was quiet on the ride to school and Silas noticed that something was bothering me. I couldn't tell him that we were broke because I knew he would try to find a way to be a hero and that would make me feel even worse. I blamed my mood on my upcoming test and tried to fake a smile. Silas pulled into the parking lot of the school and I kissed his cheek. I stayed silent as I jumped out of the truck and drug my feet all the way into school.
