"Give me one good reason as to why I should stay." He took a deep breath, stood up, and walked to the window.

"I thought I already did, me. Apparently I'm not a good enough reason. I could sit here and beg you all day, but you've already made up your mind." He couldn't even look at me as he walked out the door.

I was so torn and confused and needed to clear my head. I tracked down Sienna and Emmett and asked them to go for a run with me. I checked with Carla, who told us to go and be careful. As we walked through the yard, I noticed Silas on his knees in front of the memorial honoring his father. I moved a little closer, straining to hear him.

"She's going to leave me, Dad. You spent all that time teaching me how to treat a woman and how to spoil my mate, and I still messed up. I reacted badly, and now she's leaving. I give it a month before I'm resting next to you, Pop. I'm going to die of a broken heart." I heard his sobs and I took off into the woods.

I ran past Sienna and Emmett and shifted as I let out a howl. I ran as fast as my body could move and noticed that Emmett kept behind me and slowed Sienna down every time she tried to catch up to me. I got a few yards ahead of them and was faced with a large, dark gray wolf. I heard Emmett pick up his pace as I transformed back into my human form.

"Kill me if you want to, my life sucks anyway. Please, just kill me." I cried out. Emmett approached as the wolf shifted and stood before me, as a man I did not recognize.

"Miss Callahan, I'm Paul. I'm not going to hurt you. I wanted to tell you that I apologize for what's happened to you, and that I'm very happy to not be under your father's orders any longer." Emmett shifted and spoke to Paul.

"What about Luke and Brock?"

"Luke went back to Montana to his wife and kids, and I don't know where Brock went."

"What are your plans, Paul?"

"I don't want to go back, I have nothing waiting for me." The two men discussed going to Preston and asking his to allow Paul into the pack and then Sienna, Emmett, and I headed back for Carla's.

I saw the truck as soon as I was out of the woods. I slid on a tee shirt that was hanging off a tree branch that I recognized as the shirt that Silas was wearing when I left. I left Sienna in the yard with her mate, and I quietly entered the house and walked toward the voice I heard in the family room.

"Just remember, Little One, no matter where you are, I'll always be your daddy and I'll always love you. Take care of your mommy for me and tell her every day that I'm sorry and I love her. I'm sure going to miss you when you're gone. I wish I could go with you, Little One. Hopefully someday you'll both find your way back to me." I heard his low sobs and felt the tears rolling down my face as I rounded the corner. I saw Silas sitting in the rocking chair shirtless, with my sleeping daughter lying on his bare chest.

"I'm sorry." I whispered as I shuffled my feet and slowly made my way to his side.

"Don't be sorry for how you feel. I'll let you go is that's what you want. I'll give you the money to go back to Montana if that's what you want to do. I just ask that you remember that you can always come back if you change your mind." He stood to his feet and carried Maddy up the stairs and put her down in her playpen. He started walking away from me, but I reached out and grabbed his wrist. I pulled him close to me and wrapped my arms around his waist and rested my head against his chest.

"I love you Silas. I love you and I don't want to leave you. I don't want to fight and I don't want to leave." I cried for what seemed like the millionth time that week, and Silas lifted me into his arms and carried me to bed.
